Really the best way to progress this is to use a stronger band to increase the height at which you can jump and thus absorb more force as you land. You could also pair it with a strength exercise like a back squat or front squat to use post activation potentiation (PAP).

Thank you. I would say this isn't a great technique enforcement exercise since you typically will hold onto the band. Depth drops and hurdle hops would be a better opportunity to drive technical prowess.

If your goal is to improve your vertical jump and/or lower body power it would certainly be one you could use rather frequently. This is an awesome power exercise to peak optimal performance.

how much resistance does that band have?

Its hard to say. I would estimate about 50 pounds. It will all depend upon the height of the bar it's attached to.
