Has the front grill cloth on your Bang & Olufsen Beolab 8000 speakers become worn and unfastened over time? You now have the chance to alter that. In this video, I demonstrate how to replace the grill fabric on your Beolab 8000 speakers.
I used 5 mm double-sided tape and acoustic speaker front cloth in the video.

My covers where so stretched over the years, removed them and I bought some new ones from B&O. But between removing the grill and delivery of the new grill, i found they were sounding a lot better without grill, so I never put the new ones on and left them in their original tube packing. I know they are looking a bit weird now, but they are sounding so much better, the high notes are clearly liberated. Good video.

Thank you for your comment. Yes, the sounds is more clear without the front cover. But the look is not a good. Try to get some wooden cover for your Beolab 8000

@@KoseTrading Oh no, placing the tweeter behind a wall of wood. Why should they put the tweeter above the enclosure on Beolab 18's. That was for a reason.
@KoseTrading
@KoseTrading 20 күн бұрын
@@christee2908 I understand your concern about the placement of the tweeter behind a wooden panel in certain speaker designs compared to the exposed tweeter on top of the enclosure in the Beolab 18. Different speaker models have different design philosophies and acoustic goals. While the Beolab 18 prioritizes an open tweeter design for specific acoustic and aesthetic reasons, Beolab 8000 may place the tweeter behind a wooden panel to achieve a different set of objectives, such as visual integration and protection, without sacrificing overall sound quality. Both approaches have their merits and are chosen to best suit the intended use and design ethos of the speaker.

If the fabric has very little sag can you use the same original material but stretch it a little more? my only concern is that when the fabric is removed from the sides it may damage and stretch the original fabric too much?
@KoseTrading
@KoseTrading 9 ай бұрын
Yes, you can do that. I have tried that before. But you need to be easy on the fabric when you are using that method.

I've seen much better results. My covers have been renewed last year by a guy in Netherland and look like new. And he can deliver many colours.

Very nice result and great instruction. By the way, I think the top-inside is the most difficult part, but looks great on the outside. Question: how did you cut away the excess material/fabric on the inside of the top corners?
@KoseTrading
@KoseTrading Жыл бұрын
Hi Ernst Kolvenbag Thank you for your comment. I'm glad for you like the video. Yes the top-inside are the difficult section. But when you have tried 3-4 times it will be easier. You can just use a scissors to cut it, but something it's not necessary to cut it.

Looks good, and a big thank you for the video. I'm however a bit concerned by the fabric, which looks pretty 'thick' to me... are you sure it's as 'acoustically neutral' as possible ?????

Hi John Thank you for your comment. I'm glad for you like the video. Yes, it's very hard to find a fabric to match the originals one. This fabric in the video was the best I could find but I'm sure that there are many other options.

I didn’t look so far, I had rather some nylon stockings in mind, because I think that it should be as ‘acoustically transparent’ as possible… maybe I’ll check at some professionals to have their opinion on this …

Yes, the top is very tricky. I moved away from using speaker-fabrics for the beolabs. Most of the fabrics were too thick for the top. So, i went for a opaque pantyhose/nylons (40 to 60 DEN). One leg for one grill. Go for the lager sizes and do not be suprised the salesperson observing you... if you spend 1h testing and selecting the right color and look. 😂😂😂

Yes, the tricky part is on the top. Pantyhose/nylons trick and also be used. I have done it ones and it was actually look to the original look. I was very happy with the result. Hehe. I hope salesperson was understood it was to a speaker frame :D
