Not taking up for the FDIC, but they are taking pretty accurate quarterly info from bank generated call reports. It's probably very close to that figure. On commercial property losses those could be fudged, but not securities losses.

That is why other countries are detaching slowly but surely. And some bonds maturing 2025 and they won't roll into another term. What plans the parties bring other than more oil and borders? Those are not future plans for younger generations and not even for current working generation. The problem is deeper than just a change in the sitting president in 2025. Most people fail to see further than Nov 2024.

They decreased cash reserve banking requirements to 1.7%. So actually, you might get 11cents on every dollar you have in savings and CDs at your bank. When a 200,000 dollar loan defaults at your bank, that 11 cents goes down. When a 2 million dollar loan defaults the bank has nothing left to pay you after they pay their electric bill for the month.

@@Ecclesia.777yes. And I’d say almost no one actually knows how the corrupt FDIC actually works when paying claims….they are like insurance companies….your supposed FDIC account coverage, after you read the fine print….may not pay you at all. In the last crash, I had four CD accounts in Indy Mac. After the crash the FDIC notified me that only one of those four would be paid. Fine print says it pays out only ONE account per category. I lost 300k. That was my wake up call and I started to divest myself of any connection I could, to the U.S. government.

This. Have you noticed a huge uptick in the reassurances all over the news that account holders will be just fine because: a) their money is FDIC insured up to $250,000; and b) another bank would step in if their bank goes down? But if there's a massive collapse of multiple banks simultaneously, there may not be another bank to take over, nor might the FDIC have enough in its reserves to cover all those losses.

Having worked internationally all my working life. I saw this coming 16 years ago. I sold my home, transferred all my savings, and moved to Thailand where I had managed a construction project during Thailands 1997 econamic collapse. Thailand recovered and has put in many safeguards to keep it from happening again, something that America has not and is ignoring today. When America goes into its second depression, I am sure it will have effects other countries much as when Thailand collapsed in 97. But this time, I am shure Thailand will be better prepared and my family will live much the same way as we are now and that is far better than what we would be living if we had stayed in America today. There will be countries in the would that will have no effect on their econonies or standards of living with the comming collapse of the American economy much as in 1929. Those people with money in America are already looking for places to go and there are some countries already advertising that they will be the safe place to keep your wealth and move to. So at least America's left will be happy get rid of all those evil rich people 😂

Dear one. No. People really need to start learning about economics. In the past, they could print or bail out by printing debt…which was bought by foreign countries. But several years ago those countries could see where this was all headed and they stopped buying U.S. debt and started dumping what they had. China, Saudi Arabia, Russia, even Japan, has been steadily dumping, then turning around and buying gold. Left holding an empty pot, the Fed turned to Hedge Funds to buy the debt. But Hedge Funds are in mega trouble because a great deal of their investments for pension, IRA funds, etc….are in CRE. The SHTF…there is no saving this situation. You have to have someone buying your debt in order to print more fake money. Plus, one trillion, which the government does not have…..goes out to pay ONLY the interest on previous debt…..every 90 days. Currently the government revenue needed to pay ongoing liabilities…..is only 60% of what is needed. It will get worse as more companies go out of business and those taxes they were paying will not be available for the government to pay bills.

This recession is most likely the result of an external factor. For the first time in decades, the United States is losing its clout as a federal reserve currency. They don't have any more economies to use to control inflation, and less money is being spent on stock and oil trading than in the past. They all lend support to the idea that a new multilateral world order is in the works.

$517 Billion? The Fed can just add that to the printing schedule. Peanuts compared to the trillions they have already printed.

The commersial real estate and credit cards debt are the worst things happening now. I wonder if credit cards are only issued by banks, a lot of them seems to be from credit companies that aren’t banks. Thanks Lena for cutting through all these economic mumbo-jumbos that obfuscate what is really happening!

Banks can write realized losses off their taxes so they don't have to pay federal taxes. Problem solved.

But it creates another problem. When they write off the losses, it reduces their equity and may violate their capital requirements.

@@Dennis0824There are no capital requirements anymore to speak of. That was in tge old days. With old rules from 15 years ago, all banks would be closed today.

@@pekkarousu3616 Agreed. The capital requirements have been reduced to 10%, substantially below what it used to be. That is a dangerous situation.
