I can fly through ring muscle-ups...but when I try to do bar muscle-ups, I'm reduced to chicken winging up. In this video you say too many times, people end up too close to the bar and unintentionally 'muscle themselves up'...your advice to think TTB was PERFECT. I literally cannot wait to get to the gym and try this. Great tips man, thanks!

Hey Ben, Thanks so much for all the good advices you give. I bought your ring MU progression chart (which I'm going to apply during my holidays) but your tutorials already allowed me to do bar MU. The only thing I can't figure out, is how to transition to the second one...

by far the most helpful kipping bar muscle up clip ever. I was always shooting myself straight up where i was just stuck at my chest level. Now i know what it means to have my shoulder back. Gonna try this tommorow at the box.

WODprep it worked! I got it on my second attempt! I was actually able to do 5 in 8 attempts (and that was after working out for about a couple of hours). Getting my first MU was my number one goal for 2017 and thanks to your tips I got it sooo much sooner than I could have imagined (I thought maybe I'd get one or two by the end of the year). The coaches at my box said they didn't even look like my first ones. Next step, stringing them together! Thank you so so much!

According with physic mechanics the further away from the bar, the harder to rotate. Shouldn’t one shoot upwards mostly? And not so much out of the bar?

in my opinion this type of bar muscle up is for beginners that lack off strength to pull theirselfs up and away of the bar.i think you will agree in that!

Kipping is definitely way easier than strict! I LOVE strict bar muscle ups, but this is specifically for the kipping variety! :)

WODprep I'm just starting Calisthenics. I can do 8-10 good pull ups. Am I to weak to attempt Muscle ups?

Cris Davis if they are strict 8-10 pullups then you should be good to go. The biggest thing is to make sure you engage your shoulders. The other is to have a strong arch to hollow body technique. The key to this movement is to have your entire body during the arch position to be on one side of the pull up bar. This will give you a big arch to be able to put your body in the correct angle to hip pop (kip) and get over the bar. Once you get the feel of the muscle up, strict MU's becomes easier and easier.

I'm 15 years old and I've just started doing CrossFit , I can do 5/6 strict pull-ups. Will in need to be able to do more strict pull-ups before trying this technique ???

the muscle up that you explain is a typical calisthenic muscle up or it differs???and if it differs please tell me the difference.because i do calisthenics and this is not the way i reach upon and the push the bar against me.thanks !!!😊😊😊

Most calisthenic bar muscle ups are performed pretty strict and don't use very much momentum. The key to those is making sure you have a very high grip on the bar. Also, it helps to have skinny legs! I used to be able to knock out strict bar muscle ups no problem, but once I started squatting, my numbers have dropped a little with that extra weight ;)

+WODprep i will definitely agree with you.i squat too and the larger my legs become the more difficult is to maintain the reps..i did not used to do calisthenics.i used to do cross fit and bodybuilding and a gymnast said to me that exactly because my legs are bigs and as a result to heavy it will be much more difficult for me to find balance.so we can say that calisthenic training doesnt require much muscle on legs???the thinner the better you say...

Kipping makes the muscle up not count. Kipping is cheating and looks stupid
