I first watched this video a couple weeks ago and was instantly drawn to how incredibly delicious this recipe looked. I ended up buying the book (which was such a fantastic purchase - so much food!) and made the recipe tonight..... worth every hour!!!!! I can’t stop raving about it. So much flavour!!!

I love Brinda! ❤️ I wonder if this could be adapted to work as part of a barbecue/cookout kind of thing. Several of my friends are going plant-based this year and I need more recipes that I can serve them if we’re able to get together this summer 😊

@Brinda Ayer omg thanks for replying! ❤️ Foil packets are a great idea, you could even do them up by a campfire that way - yum! Thank you so much for opening me up to new ways of cooking that I never thought of ❤️

@Brinda Ayer I tried a “poverty version” tonight, which is to say I didn’t have grocery $ so I used the baby carrots and 15-bean blend that I already had. It turned out delicious! I can’t get enough of the beans especially. The carrots really do need to be full size tho, surprise surprise 😂 the baby carrots just cooked down to nothing in the oven for me. But I cut them up after roasting and threw them into the beans for a “one-pot meal” kind of vibe, worked fine! 😊👍

In addition to adding umame flavor, kombu is supposed to help with beans' adverse side-effect (flatulence).

Lots of work. I steam my carrots, then marinate them in barbecue seasoning. Good brand of canned Northern beans seasoned to taste and add the carrots😊

This looks like a great recipe, but as a box subscriber, I don’t control the size of my carrots, so I’m out, sadly. I’ll watch for the beans side of things, anyway.

Honest question: why not just cook the beans in the soaking liquid?
@AdmiralJackFrost4 жыл бұрын
the soaking water is gonna have dirt/other impurities drawn out of the dried beans over the time they soaked.

And even chemicals not friendly to humans from pesticides, herbicides and fertilizer.

Because the water leaches out some of the oligosaccharides in the beans, which is what makes them farty.

I guess she should have mentioned that all the components will keep and can be successfully reheated. (The beans will even improve.)

I like this content, but whenever I see the name come up in my feed I am unsure if it is a cheeky pun that I don’t get or if the reference isn’t intended. “Cook the books” is slang to committing fraud through accounting.
