To be fair I watch every night and he rarely interjects. More Stephen interacts with him on the fly and Jon usually doesn't seem prepared enough for it to have a funny reply or something to please the viewers. I more blame Stephen for his comments seeming annoying. Love them both tho

I was born December of 1961. There is so much that I do not know of this man. I heard his name that the fact everybody loved him. Now I am taking another step in learning. I don't have much time left in this world , I am 58. This man has done more than taken a a few lumps bumps, and beat downs. I Loved Martin Luther King Jr. I tried to teach his words and meaning behind them. But being white, growing up on a little farm. I was far shielded from the hate that was only a few hundred miles away from me in the cities. I tried, but I see I fall short of teaching. I hate the issues that have been hidden from us. Ferguson Mo was always in turmoil. We lived only a hour away from it. Even when I was young, I would see the news reporting something there. But too young to understand what it was about, at least truly understood. I think shame had a big factor in a lot of things, why hate continues. We hate the shame of something I did not do, we hate the shame that was covered, and hidden from us. Now it so awful, I think forgiveness is the only way. We know it's there, but it's hard to grasp. We can't tear it apart and toss away. Because it something we need to remember. John Lewis is correct about it. The man that asked forgiveness had a son. Shame and guilt lead him back to John, togeather now those two are in heaven. Enjoying everything God meant the world to be. Jon Batiste, please anything else you know of this wonderful man, please let me know.

@DrTssha
@DrTssha 8 жыл бұрын
Talking about racism doesn't keep people separated. Refusing to talk about racism keeps people separated. That's why King organized people to walk out on the busses in Montgomery. In part, it was to get people talking. As long as it was front page news, you couldn't hide it as easily. When people are aware of racism, they spot it more easily. That's important, because sometimes the most pernicious parts of racism are the parts you don't even notice in your own thoughts, or actions, or words. It's subtle...and it's not any kind of moral failing to have these thoughts, we all have them...but we have to be aware of them in order to stop them. Ignorance of racism doesn't help. You don't solve a problem by shouting down discussion of it. In fact, that's the very opposite of helping. That's burying the issue so people can do terrible things to each other in the darkness, where no one can see your bad deeds. Worse yet, the person doing harm might not even realize they're doing it.

@@susanbaker-schloth1152 I will be voting. For the very first time at that. Trump has my vote. I've also worked to get other family members registered for the first time and they will vote Trump as well.

Awesome. Always love hearing about John Lewis's awesome experiences. Jon Batiste was surprisingly good too I always thought he wasn't much of a talker.

I don’t think any one can fill the shoes and occupy the space of John Lewis. He was one of a kind. 💗

I love how Jon looks over excitement and says “Oh, Congressman Lewis!” pretending he didn’t know he was there.

This was beautiful. Shed some tears and followed them with a smile of hope. We all must “stay human” and act as ONE in our stand for justice and act as ONE against racism. Anti-racist. Respect and love John B. And Mr. Lewis hope to meet you on the other side. Rest well good sir you have earned it. May we all do our part to move forward never back. May we make Dr. King’s dream a reality not just a quote. Love from Canada 🇨🇦. -Brian (singer for WHY)

This just popped up on my feed and it's such a beautiful thing. I LOVE how Congressman Lewis wanted to be fresh while fighting for his human rights. He was an incredible soul and we were blessed to have him. God rest your soul John Lewis.

And it comes around again. ..Thank you John Lewis for transcending the pain and the abuse of your oppressors and bringing joy and strength and to Jon Batiste for being there to ask questions and capture it. John Lewis gives us strength. Tonight my teenage daughter is on the streets of Portland, protesting the federal agents sent by this presidential administration. But we must stay human! I reminded my daughter to remember the humanity of each officer and to think for herself while she also stands up for our constitutional rights and the rights of others. John Lewis and so many others have shown the way to non-violent resistance. Love is a better way. Always. Love.

Well, you got part of your wish lol Too bad he's probably going to be a nasty lame-duck rep, obstructive and mean-spirited to the end. He will join with president Don to attempt to declare the election invalid. It's gonna be a wild ride...
