Okay, PSA time from someone who works in injury law…. DO NOT EVER SAY YOU’RE OKAY IF YOU’VE BEEN HIT BY A CAR AS A PEDESTRIAN OR BIKE RIDER!!!! Okay, now that I have your attention, the adrenaline makes you feel like you’re okay, you’re not. You sit down, call EMS or have someone else call them, and never say you’re okay. Always get the other person’s info. I work so many cases where the person ends up not okay and we have zero info to go on bc they didn’t call police or ems, or they let the driver go and zero info on them. Please, sit and get assessed. You never know what is injured at the moment. Please do this from now on.

There’s more to it than this. If he says he’s injured and a civil lawsuit occurs. He cannot post videos online of him working out because it will all be used as evidence against him. He probably had to decide. Lawsuit and no workout videos or no injuries and continue social media income with workout videos. Hard decision because he definitely is injured from it. Impossible not to be.

I’m a cyclist and was involved in a hit and run that by some miracle only left me with a broken collarbone, concussion and a few flesh wounds. I just wanted to say that by far the worst wound was the mental scar that I didn’t realise was so bad until 18 months down the line when I stopped sleeping and developed an eating disorder. IMPORTANT: ALWAYS GO TO THE HOSPITAL AFTER A CAR ACCIDENT even if you think you have no injuries. It is incredibly common for people to essentially drop dead post car accident / traumas because they suffer silent vascular injuries, which sometimes take about a day to rupture and show symptoms. These people will go from walking around saying "wow that was crazy that I have no major injuries" to having an aortic dissection that ruptures the next day, causing massive internal bleeding and death. Only way to catch it is to get CT scanned.

Luckily it was not a truck or suv, but a small sedan. I was knocked out. Woke up in the back of the ambulance for just enough time to give my info. I had no id on me. Passed out again and woke up in emergency with my wife holding my son. Was in the hospital for a week and intensive care for a few days. Had a concussion. four broken ribs in the back that punctured a lung. Even the police officer said he never saw anyone get hit out of their shoes and live. Of course they said they were going the speed limit, which was thirty five. Again the police said from where I was hit, to where I landed, to where they stopped, they had to be doing at least 45mph. I was thirty five when it happened. Now I’m sixty.

Dear Nick, Thank you for sharing this story, it takes a special person to post a video like this. I am a college student in the process of applying to medical school and was recently T-boned by a drunk driver. After it happened I said the exact same words, "It was a wake up call from God." The message I walked away with was that I have an abundance of things in my life that I take for granted and that can be really hard to see until you have them taken away from you. Your video is a nice reminder that the world is a small place and if I ever got the chance to talk to you about that experience it would be an honor and a privilege. More importantly I am glad you are okay and still here on this earth to go one more. All the best, Gabe

Rule of thumb for everyone! ALWAYS get a police incident report filed at the scene after EVERY accident, no matter how minor it may seem at the time. Even a little fender bender or small bump. You don’t know what damage could be hiding underneath that you didn’t see after a minute of looking on the side of the road, and any bodywork/medical needed is EXPENSIVE that you do not want to pay for if you don’t have to.

Great reflection on life and glad you made it through this accident. Many years ago, I left my house on my bicycle for a tempo ride before an upcoming triathlon the following weekend. My wife just knew I was away on a routine ride. Three miles from my house, a kid darted in front of me while I was going about 18 mph. I veered away and crashed into a brick mailbox and came back to consciousness looking up at the blue sky. 911 was called and the fire department showed up. I couldn’t move. They loaded me up into an ambulance to the hospital. My wife got the phone call from the EMT saying “we have your husband!”. She had no clue where I was. I had broken my collarbone , two fractured ribs, and had sheared the front of my bicycle off. The good news to this day is that I have no memory of the collision. These days, I seldom ride without using the tracker feature on my bike computer and I always wear my RoadID. And I’m extremely aware of activities in my path. Be and stay safe.

I was always waiting for this video to happen at some point. With all the miles you do on the road there's a high chance of it happening. I'm sorry it happened it's very scary. I'm surprised it doesn't happen to people more often. Runners need to make sure they have something reflective, not all dark colors and a decent amount of light coming off you and try your best to stay safe as no matter how safe you are bad drivers will always make the road unsafe for everyone. I always have some form of beam light that shoots forward. And I have neon green light straps that go on my wrists and ankles and I look quite stylish. But there is no doubt God protected you and your mission on this earth is not yet complete

When you say "and the next thing, and the next thing, and the next thing..." Reminds me of Ecclesiastes and what King Solomon came to realize: "Yet when I surveyed all that my hands had done and what I had toiled to achieve, everything was meaningless, a chasing after the wind; nothing was gained under the sun." Meaningless in the sense that life's true meaning and only source of contentment is found through a personal relationship with God. . I have also been hit by a car while on a run, was a distracted college student on their phone speeding through a residential area while I was using the cross walk. She was going pretty fast and I remember flying into the air but miraculously only dislocated my shoulder and have some nerve damage in the forearm from hitting her windshield. Definitely was pissed because I had run that same route for almost an entire year and I couldn’t run for a few weeks. Also I got a lot of money from the incident, more so thankful to be alright. Glad you’re doing good, stay safe man. Keep up the work 🫡

First, I’m happy to hear you’re alright. Second, three weeks ago I was in an apartment building fighting a fire and a roof collapsed on me. It was my God moment. Between you and Sally talking and now this. I know God is trying to make me slow down and pay attention. Thank you sir, take care of yourself, and Go. One. More.

14:33 I got that same wake up call from God but it was with my mental health. God was saying “Hey hey hey look who’s in control. Not you, it’s always been me” And I was forced to slow down, take care of my mental health for the first time in my life, and actually look to God as my source of help.

So glad you’re okay! Stay safe out there! Highly recommend the Olight baton for all runners out there. It is small but can be super bright (1200 lumens). It works great as a head lamp attaching it to the brim of my hat when I run but I actually like to move it to my hand when I’m crossing roads or even running on the sidewalk crossing a parking garage entrance or that sort of thing. I move the light back and forth on the ground to catch the eyes of drivers as they’re turning. I also like it because my runs often start in daylight during the winter and end in total darkness so I just keep it in my pocket until I need it. Similarly, morning runners could just use it until it is light enough to run without.

I to also run on country roads and wear not only a headlamp but a red blinking light on the back band of said headlamp along with high visibility/reflective shirt. I was almost hit by on oncoming car that I felt the air push me away from it as it was that close to me. What I am trying to say is, people just don’t pay attention to the road ahead of them or the surroundings as they drive. It’s sad to hear these stories much like Nick’s and I am sure there’s plenty of others like these that drivers don’t take us runners or bikers into consideration to allow us to do something we love without fear of harm. My life is just as valuable as the person driving. STAY SAFE EVERYONE AND RUN WITH YOUR HEAD ON A SWIVEL.

I am so sorry to hear this but I am with you in spirit when you say how grateful you are to be walking and able to be alive. Through this incident I really hope you can turn this around for all of us in the running community through creating some actually decent high vis things that people want to wear. As you know, not wearing these things are the reasons that might’ve contributed to this accident, and it’s because let’s face it, it’s lame and no one wants to wear these oversized things. Help us all man!! I know you are creative and will spin this into something special. I can’t wait to see what you come up with and the running community will thank you later for it. Wishing you a speedy recovery man!

Did this happen on FM2243? Any way to get in touch with you if so? I work with the guy that MAY have hit you. Literally the only difference in yalls stories is that he stayed back and the runner left the scene. A sheriff met him on the scene and took a report. These stories are crazy similar.
@BPfishing728Ай бұрын
Well sure as shit. He recognizes you. You should probably contact Georgetown PD because there is a report for this incident. The driver did not leave the scene. Odd that you would get hit by a car, leave the scene, and not file a police report yourself.

The meaning you found in this episode of your life is definitely accurate to The Scripts and The Bible. Nick, I found myself in the same situation as you 6 months ago. It was my dad who had another opportunity, given by God. Experiences like these are what the Lord uses to capture our attention and put our eyes on Him; worship Him, thank Him and redirect us to Him. At this moment you should also feel the need to fulfill God's purposes in your life, which are multiple and there is one in each area of your life. But it all starts by frequently attending Church; Being in the right place will make it easier for God's voice to confront you and make you understand what is next for you. It will make you feel complete. Remember that the earth and its things are temporary, but He and His rewards are eternal. "I will not die; instead, I will live to tell what the Lord has done." Psalm 118:17

If anyone is ever in this situation, you ALWAYS call 911 and have a police report made. For all we know, this guy could’ve been drunk at 4:45 am. Not to mention liability for potential injuries after the fact. I will say, thank goodness you’re alright Nick. If the passenger door was dented, I have to assume the driver luckily veered at the very last second to prevent hitting you head on. Absolutely incredible you weren’t injured!

@tamykeres8449Ай бұрын
He was NOT drunk and he did stay and called 911 had the police, and ambulace come out and make a report, the runner left, I work with this guy,he is good guy would give shirt off his back, works with Sr in nursing homes on the weekend, his married and has a family with kids, and grand children, This guy came to work crying, was so upset could hardly work that day. You should not say things like that unless you know the whole story.
@Zackary_Ай бұрын
@@tamykeres8449 Notice I said "for all we know" in my original post, I never assumed the driver was drunk, I was using it as an example for why runners should never leave the scene if they are hit by a car, because things like that sadly do happen. Me saying to stay and call 911 was directed at the runner, since that is who the subject of the video is. I hope the driver is doing alright, mistakes happen, and I'm glad no one was hurt, especially seeing as the driver seems like a genuine person.

Obviously the drivers fault but Nick admitted that he wasn't completely 100% in his senses when running. If the insurance wants to fight it, they have this as evidence. They can say that it was Nicks fault for not paying attention and such. Hopefully the driver can own up to this accident. Also, not a hit and run if he pulled over to check on Nick. Nick didn't grab info (not mentioned if he did in the vid) so that's on him. Glad Nick is okay! Thank god

@@bbosslady603 I dunno I’m not a lawyer and I don’t live in the US 🤷♀️ just seems odd that the driver wouldn’t face any penalty, like Nick said he could have died, then what? The driver still goes on his merry way? 😳
@bbosslady603Ай бұрын
@ it was an accident. They happen. Nick should have never been on that road to begin with. He’s very lucky to be alive. Driver returned to the scene and made sure he was ok. In the USA a 55mph zone means the average car is going 60-65. Technically that is speeding but there’s still no fault even if you could prove speed being a factor. Unfortunately if you’re running on a highway you take the risk and Nick learned never to do that again. Glad he’s ok and healthy, 🙏🏻
