Lol you guys totally misinterpreted Roshi's interaction with the little girl. He was just comforting her. Cheering her up.

@@BarisTeeAnimeReactions That and dub stuff. It's a lot more clear in the Japanese version he's comforting her, but at the same time he's waaaaaaaaaaay more perverted in general

Goku battling Krillin is one of my favorite highlights of the tournament! I admire the animation of the fighting choreography, as it looks very fluid like some of the previous battles.

1:16 Don't worry. Master Roshi's smirt here was just to cheer up the child and make her stop crying. He wasn't having any dirty thoughts with the kid. The voice actor should have made a different kind of laugh.

I really enjoyed this episode. One of my favorites. Not just Goku and Krillin's fight. It was Master Roshi and his Verbal Judo.

I will say that, as an old fart, I have really found it to be true: you aren't ever competing against anyone but yourself. You do your best, they do their best, you have control over yourself but not them.

While the dialogue in the anime is very powerful, it is also worth noticing that Tien and Roshi's conversation in the manga is slightly different. After Roshi explains the reason why Jackie was created, Tien automatically assumes that Roshi must have quit after seeing "how strong Tien was" so there was no need to worry about Goku or Krillin winning. But Roshi tells Tien that this assumption is wrong. He explains that he forfeits because he realises that the new generation is turning out fine and that he now knows that none of his students would turn into slackers just because they won this tournament.

They also discuss who would have won if their match had continued. Tien says he would have won, and at first Roshi replies he doesn't think so. After the encounter, though, Roshi finally admits that Tien probably was right and that Roshi would have in fact lost.

The original Japanese version an an amazing song during the goku vs kuririn fight , unfortunately the dub removed it

Goku vs Krillin in Tournament is so awesome! I really love how you Baris and Madison are able to find some DB contents about Master Roshi as a deep character because despite the fact he's a pervert Roshi is basically breaking Tien's ego as a martial artist and start to question if The Crane Hermit's path is the enlightenment of martial arts and Tien's head is getting psychological challenge by Roshi. What made Dragon Ball so underrated successful is that Toriyama studies Journey to the West and martial arts philosophy from China to India of what makes that so successful before Toriyama preparing for Dragon Ball like Toriyama is pure genius

I believe that great moment between Roshi and Tien is what started to change his ways. He needed to hear it, such a great message. Goku VS Krillin 🍿.

OG Dragon Ball have the best fights because they’re also thematically great. The only fights in Z that really felt like they earned their emotional and narrative peaks were Goku vs the Saiyans (mostly Vegeta) and then Goku vs Frieza. That isn’t to say that Z didn’t have other moments (Piccolo fusing with Kami and Majin Vegeta’s sacrifice) but those moments get almost immediately undermined by the fact that they don’t lead anywhere. If you look at Gohan vs Cell it isn’t even a real fight. It’s mostly one-sided for one half, then becomes one-sided for the other, and then it’s the beam struggle. Dragon Ball also has its primary theme of self improvement ring true from the very first training arc all the way to the final tournament. This fight is one of the greatest and people sleep on it because it’s Krillin vs Goku.

Roshi's right Tien has a conscience, he could have tried to kill Roshi while no one was looking, if he was anything like Tao he had petty motivation, Tien will never know if he would have truly won if Roshi had faced Tien at his full power, by Roshi stepping out of the ring Tien was at his mercy not the other way around.

Master roshi's philosophy is actually correct and when you mentioned sometimes we have to figure out what we want in life by ourselves and come with our own terms. My case would be to finally come to terms that I'm a feminine guy and just accept this fact, that I will never be a macho dominator dude who is forced to fit into masculinity box, by society standards. I'm also have to come with terms that I'm asexual, because I always thought that I'm heterosexual, but analyzing myself I figured out that I'm asexual, many people would consider this a curse, but for me it's actually a blessing, because I don't feel attraction to anyone and I can live my life on my own terms, without anyone telling how to live my life, society can duck itself, for all I care. It's my life and I'm the director of my own life.
