Great video, brilliant visuals of the over arching system. I noticed my 40 plus was down to a trickle whilst on a cruise. No hosepipe, but had. 10cm2 NHS syringe. I chamfered the nozzle to effect an air tight fit and pumped in and sucked out some petrol (a supreme solvent). After 5-6 cycles all sorts of crud appeared in the syringe. My engine is now like new. Also, 10cm2 syringe slightly more than fills the Seagull water galleries, as shown in the vid, such that a bit goes down to the impeller. Job done ✅

Great stuff - thanks - I've been working on a little Seagull that the previous owner tells me just won't circulate water. I, like the previous owner, had checked pretty much everything, but still no water flow. After watching this video - I found exactly the same issue as described at 4:04 - except mine wasn't just "a tiny little block in here" - it was a massive block in there. All the water galleries were clear and rust free, the impeller was fine, the water tube up to the power head was nice and clean, but still no waterflow. It was blocked exactly where you said - and it was quick tricky to unblock. But now its unblocked, it flowing really well, as you would expect. Actually, I think there is a little "hidden" water chamber in behind there, and I think my entire chamber was full of silt and muck - there is a limit to how much access you can get with screwdriver/wire/etc. I actually ended up removing that threaded port that accepts the top of the water pipe to gain better access to clean out the hidden chamber. It took me about 10 minutes of poking and prodding with a screw driver to make any headway at all. Then high pressure water for another 10 minutes before I could even blow air through there, but once a small air passage was opened, high pressure water seemed to blow it all out quite quickly, but it took half an hour all up - but half and hour well spent. Thanks for the tip - I may have got there myself in the end, but your video saved me a lot of time and effort.

Thanks for making this video. I aquired a feather weight it runs ok but no water. After watching your video flipped the motor upside down, found head inlet plugged bad, cleaned what i could then filled the head with vinegar we'll see what happens after a few days.

Do you have a recomendation for a spanner or socket that can get to those 2 nuts to split the engine?? I managed to get one off.(Silver century). I reckon i need to check the copper water tube from pump to head. Water runs backwards from pee hole to intake.
@JohnSmith-pl2bk6 ай бұрын
It doesn't circulate water unless the engine is above idle speed........ so the water drops back down the inlet tube until the engine speeds up....

Great videos. Thanks. My problem: No water out the block when running. But hose up the block and water pours out the intake. Therefore it must be the impeller? I've heard these never break. What am I missing?
@andymiller13083 жыл бұрын
i have the exact same problem. Water flows backwards from the pee hole and out of the intake. My first thought wat the impeller but i can't get to it very easily without buying tools and heat. My next thought is the water tube from the impeller to the head??? Again the spanner is too big to split the engine!!

just a little help. You can use a coil from an original honda 50; l ground the square ends round to fit into the magnetic shoes to the seagull, then ground the place where the wire comes out of the honda coil, it aligned with the seagulls coil pickup so no model changes on the outside. done 40 years ago still running. Have fun

Hi Lawrence Yes you could paint the drive shaft . Most are left unpainted and I have not seen 1 fail yet.
