Just glancing under the hood I can tell the car has a Peter Farrell racing intercooler upgrade which even to this day is still one of the best intercoolers you can buy for these cars. The car has an aftermarket intake and a metal Air Separator tank, which is a common reliability mod for these cars. I've owned two FD RX-7s, so I have a lot of experience with them :) *EDIT* I see the car also has a brake rotor and caliper upgrade, Peter Farrell exhaust, PF chin spoiler and period correct SSR Integrals. WOW. That car is worth some serious coin right now.

The FD Mazda RX-7 is such a beautiful looking car. The aerodynamics, the rounded edges and smooth body lines are absolutely gorgeous. A far departure from the generation before which was very boxy. And it has one of my favorite old school car features, pop-up headlights. I wish these were still around. This was a great detail. It's also nice to see a fairly stock-looking RX-7 rather than a knock-off Fast and Furious version for a change.
@poplaurentiu41482 жыл бұрын
Fully agree the owner would get much more admiration and it would be better to keep it as best he can unmolested as it is clean & beautiful just in best working condition, no wide fenders or weird spoilers & crazy bumpers which not just devalue the whole car price considering the extra price for those body panels and the fitting to modify since will require extra work compared to OEM parts also the price not worth it also it will make it look much stupid..

The 90s-2000s were some of the best looking and worse looking cars. The polarity between the cars of my youth, versus the cars of today, there is no comparison. Modern vehicles all look exactly a like. If I don't see the badge on the car, I can't really k now who makes it. The 90s and 2000s was the high-water mark for design and style, everything down hill from there. But there are some decent looking cars today just not as many as there used to be.

Great work and video. Back in 92, I was a proud owner of a 93 R1 model in Competition Yellow Mica. Only 250 of that color was imported to the states and made one year. I kick myself getting rid of it . This one appears to be an R1 based on suede seats , spoiler , strut brace among other options. Such an awesome machine. If my father only knew how I drove that thing…😂😂🇺🇸

The PF intercooler is an iconic upgrade for these cars. Have a friend who bought his '93 FD new, eventually he had Rotary Performance in Dallas do a single-turbo conversion. We were there when they did the final tune and the car made 416hp at the wheels on a rolling dyno. One of the LOUDEST cars I've ever heard, lol. Might not sound like much now, but +400hp in a

Takes me back! I owned a red ‘93 RX-7 R1. You can tell if it’s an R1 by the suede seats, no moonroof, extra oil cooler and the front lower spoiler is larger. I basically stole it for $13K back in 1999. The dealership had no clue what they had! Mazda was ahead of it’s time with this beauty. I’m not familiar with this brand of mods. All of my mods were Greddy which helped me run with the Supra’s, Cobra’s and Trans Ams of that time. I couldn’t afford one today for what they are going for. Great video. Bitter sweet.

I know 2 super fun facts : first one is about first gen Mazda RX-7 (The FB series had few cars in the Group-B WRC rally but they plan for the second gen RX-7 FC Mazda racing engineers worked on a secret wrc prototype called Mazda RX7S designed to compete in Group-S but since Group-B got banned the Group-S which suppose to follow was ditched as well with RX7S that was almost ready to be tested but it never got to turn it's engines or to get in any motorsport events along with all secret Group-S project prototypes like Audi RS-002, Lancia ECV1 &ECV2, Toyota MR-222D, Ford RS -200 S, Peugeot Quasar 4x4 405 Turbo Ti, Seat Ibiza BiMoto S, Kadet ES 4X4, Lada EVA S-Proto, Mitsubishi Starrion 4WD-S..etc ) now the second fun fact is about Mazda 3'rd generation RX-7 FD, same gen with the car from this clip above, when it was first tested after importing in the US, the 'Playboy thrust magazine' was one of the first who reviewed the FD RX-7 in 1993, they tested it in the same magazine-review issue against the new Dodge Viper (for that time). In that issue, Playboy declared the RX-7 to be the better of the two cars on all chapters since both had 50:50 balance and other similar factors. But the RX-7 FD won the Playboy's Car of the Year title for 1993. ;0)

I had this exact R1 series Rx-7 when new when I was in college back then. The engine compartment is modified. The battery would have sat in the engine compartment and the red hoses and intercooler has been modified. The strut tower brace is original to the R1 trim package. The front spoiler was also not color keyed to the car and would have been black. The touring package would have had a smaller black spoiler in the front with no wing but the Bose Acoustic speaker system that sounded awesome back in 1993 but the R1 package has the wing, aggressive front spoiler and twin intercoolers instead of one. The touring package had leather seats, they had a cheap package that had cloth and the R1 package had Alcantara seats.

From what I can see that the RX-7 (R1) has the entire PFS performance catalog thrown at it, intercooler, intake, exhaust, AST and boost gauge. Seeing that the car was in Va, wouldn’t be sure if this was a PFS car. Other mods I can see are SSR Integral wheels which were pretty popular on FDs. As the owner of a stock 94 RX7 FD cooling is the biggest problem, this car has am aftermarket cooling system and air intake. Fun fact, a lot of RX-7 owners pop the hoods of their cars after they get done driving them to exhaust the heat from under the hood,. The fans do not run after the engine is shut off and the heat buildup can cook the electronics.. In todays world this car stock is quick (4.8) but back in 94 it was a weapon, The power is all in the top end, but this car is not about speed it's about handling, balance and feel; hit a round about at 60 mph and watch the mustang, corvette, bmw, loose their nerve real quick.
