Helmet setups are easily the most expensive part of setting up a kit. My rifle, handgun, plate carrier and everything in/on it, pack and its contents, boots, and every other part on my kit togeather don't even come close to costing the same amount as my helmet and what is attached to it if its night time lol.

Film yourself getting up in the morning, brush your teeth, get dressed, eat, feed the dog, get in your car, drive to a shoot house, narrate the walk inside, then drop your helmet on the floor and tell us about it. It would be so artistic.

I run a SOHAH, or a converted CVC helmet. You can sometimes find them for a good deal. They're ballistic high cuts, that arent gonna cost you like a high end helmet will. I put team wendy pads in mine and it works well

Another nice use for the bump helmet on the civilian side is like a SAR mission or post natural disaster clean up. A lot of trip hazards to protect yourself from, and it’s nice to have a light mounted on your lid so you can keep your hands free.

PASGT poor here. Nice episode! Maybe I'll go to a fancy high speed helmet eventually, but for 80 bucks, I can live with in-ear protection and comms.
@Masta_E4 ай бұрын
My favorite thing about a high cut is the ear pro being on the rails, besides being super comfortable it also makes the helmet very stable. Extra protection slaps though, I just thought I would chime in my 2cents. lol

My reason for choosing a bump helmet over ballistic... I'm a vet that wore a ballustic long enough to have neck issues. So its either bump & I can move my head or ballistic & I move like Keaton's Batman.

Bro I am a nobody but was wild as a young man and in the same boat. Most the dudes I like to watch say essentially the same thing "if you're wearing armor you should wear a ballistic" but I just can't. I have been trying hard but recently got a bump and it is worth it. Gotta work with what we got lol.

Great video, full of valuable information. One question : I've read here and there that the Peltor mount would loose some tension after use preventing the earpro to correctly sit on the ears ? Have you experienced that ? Unity Mark could be an option as well but it's impossible to have this "intermediary" position you showed with the Peltor.
@barrelandhatchet Жыл бұрын
I have heard of that however it is not something I experienced personally. Just like anything overtime there will be natural wear, however mine lasted for years before switching to the opscore mounts. Might even switch back to be honest
@jeffgeesaman4386 Жыл бұрын
What is your preferred way to run your earpro. I currently have the Amps on the amparms. I like them but I can see the advantage to the other system where you can just pop them out off your ears. I think I'm going to try to wear the earpro on the regular headband under my helmet so I still have earpro if I remove my helmet. Thanks, Love your content

Surprised your not using the unity tactical adapter for your AMP's. It lets you use the AMP on your helmet using the peltor mounting system so you can pop them out without the wings flying in the air like to ops core mounting arms. That's what I would use if I mounted my earpro and comms to my helmet. I just use mine with the neck band so I can take my helmet off and still have comms/earpro on me.

Along with learning how to properly adjust your helmet straps. Fitment is everything. Also spend the money on nice pads of various sizes to further improve fit... thus helping out once NODS get tossed...it'll also help reduce hot spots too.

So I've purchased the HHV ballistic helmet and not a 1200 dollar helmet. From what i've researched the helmet is suppose to stop hefty handgun rounds and I have seen glanced rifle rounds not make it through. Did I make a good purchase or should I look for a different helmet and subsidize the purchase of a better one with the money that I make selling what i have?

Don't take Cialis before training w/ gorgeous woman present. Had a 60-year-old man (give or take a few years) running on the lane's w/ a boner for about 2 hrs. not even joking. For any helmet, I add 'ultra fine wire meshing atop the helmet and cover it with a rubberized glass infused coating. Inside the helmet I just use an old kevlar insert and cut to size. Can craft your own custom size it rather easily etc. I know it's not much but that added layer of protection will prevent back face deformation IOT keep you in the fight. Cheers! ~H

Polyethylene helmets suck. Yeah it'll stop a round (which helmets aren't really for) but the back face deformation will be a big oof on your skull.
@ryno9677 Жыл бұрын
I’ll be honest, I don’t see the need for ballistic protection. If SHTF everyone’s using rifles and they don’t stop rifle rounds. Save the money, grab a bump and stay away from gun fights
@CallofWar5 Жыл бұрын
Im paying for that increased chance for round deflection and shrapnel defense. During Force on force exercises with sims ive noticed that the head is often the only target exposed when people are using cover correctly, and so it got nailed often. Especially when you have the high ground. Granted i got my helmet for a steal of a price. But otherwise i agree with you.

There’s many cases of level III helmets (specifically ops core) that have stopped rifle rounds. Mostly on deflects and whatnot. And even then some helmets (such as the ops core XR) are rated for rifle rounds though they are a bit heavy. Take that info as you will.
