John Fogerty, what a legend! Not only the voice, but that guitar! And although this is a cover, he also wrote a ton of great songs. Yes, I'm pretty sure they're from San Francisco. I didn't know the trivia answer, but I did successfully guess 1972, so yay me! (I knew roughly when they broke up.)

Hey Phil & Sam, I've been a fan of this band for years, the band pretty much blew-up in 1972(as you said) and the two brothers John & Tom Fogerty remained at odds with each other for years and unfortunately they could never find a resolution to their problems even before Toms unexpected death in 1990, though the two weren't ever really on speaking terms again, I believe the wounds caused by the break-up of the band never healed, and then Tom died of Tuberculosis, but later it was determined that he died from HIV, due to a blood transfusion. Truly a tragically sad ending to such a wonderful band. But we are grateful for all the beautiful tunes they provided us with. RIP: Tom Fogerty 💔🔥🎸U R Missed Here's another one of their songs, if interested. "Creedence Clearwater Revival - Proud Mary (Live at the Royal Albert Hall)" (Channel: Creedence Clearwater Revival) I really enjoyed rocking with you both and we really appreciate your content thanks for sharing.

After four years. CCR disbanded acimoniously in 1972. Jalacy "Screamin' Jay" Hawkins, as you stated, sang the original version in 1956,he also wrote the song.
I totally love this version. John Fogerty on vocals and lead guitar just awesome. CCR dabbled in this spooky deep southern vibe sound quite a bit. Even "Born On The Bayou" speaks of running through the back woods and hoodoo here and there. They did a song "Graveyard Train" which tries to capture that same vibe. "Run Through The Jungle" all about Vietnam is terrifying. But if you want just great vocals and great guitar I always seem to play "Keep On Chooglin" and "Heard It Through The Grapevine" (extended version) when I'm driving.

Just so you know they broke up as they had no choice. The record labels contract made it so that every penny would be absorbed as expenses. so CCR never got paid. Also ownership of all the songs belonged to the record label. It was only like 2 years ago, that John Foggerty won his lawsuit and was given ownership rights back for every song.
