Written by Paul Simon in 1964. Originally performed by Simon and Garfunkel. “One of the biggest hang-ups we have today is the inability of people to communicate, not only on an intellectual level, but on an emotional level as well. So you have people unable to touch other people, unable to love other people. This is a song about the inability to communicate. It’s called, “The Sound of Silence”. - Paul Simon 1966 You can see/hear him say this before they begin their performance here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/epTdp62Br7N_mLc

One of the most powerful and unfortunately accurate songs ever written. The more time passes, the more technologically advanced we become, the more emotionally detached we & more terrifyingly accurate the song, becomes.

Yes. Absolutely 💯! I have loved the Simon and Garfunkel original and even Paul Simon said David Dramen did it better because it is extremely powerful. I love this!

This Simon & Garfunkel song has been on my top ten song list since the early 70's. I loved the original but I bow down to the brilliance of David Draiman's vocals and Disturbed's cover on this much loved S&G song. Disturbed's cover is now on my top five list. You really should listen to the original too. Love this live performance almost 40 years after the original was released. It is as beautiful as the original. Thank you for having the respect to not halt this powerful video without stoppong. I grew up listening to the original songwriters, Simon and Garfunkels version. It's very different and beautiful. Disturbed is on a whole nother level. Paul Simon was impressed. David Draimon's singing on this is so moving. He trained as a Jewish cantor for years before something happened that drove him away for his faith. His life story is something to hear. What a gift he is.

I discovered this band through this video almost 3 years ago and became a huge fan! They are a heavy metal band and have been extremely popular since David Draiman joined the band in 1995. That special quality you hear in Draiman’s voice is from his early days as Jewish Cantor, as his grandfather and father before. His metal vocals are very unique to the genre. Nothing like Pantera or Metallica. They do some fantastic covers as well as their own original metal and non metal songs. I loved Simon and Garfunkel! I still have the original vinyl that I bought in 1964 at the age of 15. Oh, and Paul Simon who wrote the song contacted the band and congratulated them in now owning the song.

What i later recognized after seeing this video so often: Song is so much about people dont listen to each other, losing their capability to communicate. But in the end of the video finally the boat with the musicians crossing the river to meet the waiting songwriters. So at the end the video gives us a glimse of hope, that its not to late.

Simon and Garfunkel wrote this “folk” song in the early 60’s when you hear that version and compare …. The message is “tech” world today,… everyone is looking down, not up with eye contact, voices the personable things~ that connects us as a person/people Thank you so much for listening to the video before doing your opinions that makes a big difference when it comes to critiques

David Draiman is the singer here. He got a call from Paul Simon after they performed this on CONAN. Draiman was (understandably) stunned. Simon said it was the best rendition of his song (that’s rightly is referred to a MASTERPIECE!) he’d ever heard!

I think in his interpretation, judging by the video, hes thinking music could bring people together? Hence the writing of the music, (even that which no one ever heats) then the bringing of the instruments and music sheets to the shore, then finally crossing the divide with all of it in the boat to the peopke (of all different religions). In other wotlrds we are all have the same feelings inside and although country and religion divides us, maybe music is one thing we might all share?? Idk. Seems like the video is siggesting that. (Migjt be just mut way of seeing it of course) xxx Whatever the case, it moves me. Xx ❤❤❤❤
