Close one with the grinder CB! Never know what you will do next, lol . Man, the side plates not only add safety to the bleachers but just finish them off cosmetically. Great job!

Got a little close to the boys there... sweet job on the bleachers. To the average lay person that will sit there I bet they would never think those bleachers didn't come like that.

Ouch! Had something similar happen to me . I was using a cupped wire wheel on the grinder cleaning up some material. It was a hot day and I had on a loose t-shirt . I still don't know how, maybe a gust of wind, but that wheel caught my shirt , rolled up to me and bounced off of my gut before I could blink. I still have a light patch were I lost a layer of skin. 2 things I do now. I always work with my shirts tucked in, and I never use the grinders with the trigger that can lock in the on position. I had to hold that grinder off with both hands until I could kick the power cord out of the plug. Live and learn. You said it tried to warn you🙂. Take care, thanks for sharing
@NBSWELDINGАй бұрын
I still insist on using grinders with the trigger lock...I'm aware they are more dangerous but it's a feature that I'm so used to it's annoying to be without. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍

Son, I can feel your pain. Thankfully I hit a little north of there, caught a grinder with the sanding disc in my shirt. Oh well, just another scar. Great job on the bleachers CB. Thank you for the videos.

Well! You did say you that you’re not embarrassed or have anything to hide. I’d say that there’s no question about that after this video! Almost too much information at one point! I have said for years that the most dangerous thing that we use on a daily basis is a grinder. That’s why I try to not get in a hurry and make it a point to never use one without gloves and a clear full face shield on. Had one with a cup brush (absolutely the most dangerous thing you can put on a grinder) kick back so hard that it broke the Lincoln Viking 3350 welding shield that I was wearing at the time! Imagine that hitting you in the face with only a pair of safety glasses on, or no glasses at all. A lot of work went into those kick panels. To each his own but I wish you had faced the hems to the outside. Just my humble opinion. Either way, looks good.
@NBSWELDINGАй бұрын
Thank you...I'd considered both ways with the hems but decided to put them inside where they are below knee level...if they were facing outside they would be right at eye level out there

👍👍🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸 yep, many scars from the grinder. What 12000 rpm’s? Too fast to react.

In one of your videos you talked about chasing drilling rigs. What is the job called for doing that kind of welding and how do you get started as a new welder to do that straight out of welding school. This is a second career for me,. I was a firefighter/paramedic for 22 years. I am over 50 years old and completed Lincoln Welding Schools comprehensive program. Looking to get started even as a welder helper.
@NBSWELDINGАй бұрын
It's called oil field welding although in my area most of the rigs are actually drilling for natural gas. The best way to get your foot in the door is to find a drilling company that is hiring welders to do work in their yard while they are preparing equipment or "riggin' up" to go out drilling. I started out that way but later got hooked up with the gas companies that the rigs were drilling for and welding on the wells for the gas companies is the most money but also the highest risk and the highest cost for insurance. When I was welding on well heads for the gas companies I was required to carry 9 million dollars in liability insurance and the cost for that insurance was staggering, it's also hard to get and keep a policy like that.

@@NBSWELDING Thank you for the info sir.

Hey I think the openings on the bleachers need more work. The remaining hole thats larger is still to big enough for a small childs head!
@NBSWELDINGАй бұрын
On handrail code the minimum opening is 4" and that is for the purpose of a child's head like your talking about. Gaps here are less than 4"

A double hem would eliminate the sharp raw edge, plus make it stiffer.
@NBSWELDINGАй бұрын
When I do a double hem on my brake I gotta readjust the height of the entire top fingerboard so it will snap down for the end bends...and then I gotta adjust it back tight again to hold material for the regular bends...it really time consuming...probably slower than the extra sanding....the double hems are great when the end bends aren't an issue. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍
