A suggestion, since you enjoy teaching and love this work, you are getting too excited and move a bit fast. So, slowing just a little bit can be helpful for the students. All of your students should be thankful to have a fantastic teacher that loves his job and is very knowledgeable. A gem.

Would you bring window units that are Type 1 epa 608 and are with process tubes to a recovery center! They are scraped sometimes with refrigerant in them because of the process tube needs a piercing valve! What is the correct weight to determine the type of refrigerant in the recovery tank? Is it over 5 lbs? You need to use the scale ? No joke!

What happens if you come across a mixed recovery tank?
@Chainsaw600
@Chainsaw600 Ай бұрын
That was exactly what I thought. All bets are off when it’s a mixture. Best practice is to make certain that you recover the same refrigerant in what you have marked on the recovery tank. , however you have no idea what you’re recovering if someone has mixed refrigerants over the years. We have far too many refrigerants available. This will be an issue in the years to come. What was once a good practice to recover, recycle and reuse will become strictly disposal. My 2 cents.

A good idea is to add 50ml of sulphuric acid to the compressor before regassing then no need to vacuum

@@realSamAndrew it's an honest question...I'm not an expert or in the HVAC field. I was just curious if there is something about R134a that makes it unsuitable for HVAC purposes. I know it is used in automotive and refrigerator systems.
@realSamAndrew
@realSamAndrew Ай бұрын
@andyfer7716 r134a is not typically used in residential hvac systems, or for most building climate control. But the general answer to a question such as yours is, you only need one or two examples to demonstrate a concept in a teaching environment, and you would usually choose those based on the most common ones. With limited time, space, and resources, you can't cover everything even if you wanted to.

@@andyfer7716 Mainly because R134a is only for low temperature applications like freezers. Wouldn't work for HVAC.

The pressure noted was 200.5. It is NOT what was circled and is NOT between 201.0 and 208.1. The temperature reading is not "71 we'll say". It is 69 as indicated on the digital thermometers.

This was certainly a mistake. I heard it, repeated it and then my brain went to another nunber while teaching. I still thought I wanted to publish it. It was raw and not polished like a normal video and mistakes certainly happen. Thanks and sorry!

@@eric01406 GFY DUDE! I did not say it wasn't a mistake. The world is full of mistakes. Craig is far smarter than to make a "general idea". He is accurate and concise in all his videos. To you it is a "general idea". To those that know nothing about refrigeration and are watching this, it may be confusing because it is WRONG!
@realSamAndrew
@realSamAndrew Ай бұрын
@@eric01406in a general casual conversation, this is perfectly acceptable and very common. But this is an instructional CLASS. You don't let glaring errors slide in this case. You wouldn't publish a textbook with a clear error, and if you did, it would be corrected immediately upon discovery.
