Yeah, agreed on eating a hard wave. For an interesting one look up Mr Bass -- he was on a bass boat that was seemingly sinking. Turned out the front of the hull was separated and it was swallowing every wave that came to it and the waters were rough that day so that was pretty constant.

That’s not a missing drain plug that boat was stuffed a couple times they’re way to far from the ramp to “just realized” they forgot a drain plug I’m sure that boat has auto pumps and they would have noticed the bilge never shut off long before this point. So judging by the water conditions and waves they took water over the front

If you didn't have a drain plug then all you have to do is speed up that water would be sucked out the drain hole and you would be back on plane. P.s. If you hit a wave and take on water, PULL your plug and go full throttle, it will suck the water out of your boat, then your all good. 👍

Happened to me and my dad once out on Lake Michigan. Got one mile out and my dad goes “did you put the plug in before I launched the boat?” Without answering I turned the boat around and accelerated as fast as it would go which only felt like 1/4 power.. then I pitched the motor up to get the bow as high as I could.. By the time we reached the dock we had about an inch of clearance on each side. Not a single word was spoken the entire ride in.

For one, this is not the result of a forgotten drain plug, they either took a nasty wave over the bow or got caught in a torrential downpour. For two, you shouldn't have to take the plug out if you have a boat without leaks which means you wouldn't forget to put it in.

Hey turn on the bilge pump and should automatically pump. And don’t worry RANGER boats don’t sink. If its a newer boat close the drain plug red knob. If its the screw in type your fine dive down between breaths and screw it in. But after you trailer it stay at the ramp let fully drain with the bilge pump to hope fully battery’s didn’t short out.

They sell bilge pump’s at Walmart. Some with auto on features.

I did this on my Pursuit 2470 I got a few hundred yards down the intercoastal and thought I heard the oil alarm which I thought was weird cuz I just topped it off so I go to put oil in and that wasn't the issue though behold the plug was not in but no worries grabbed it stuck it in pumped the water out went fishing

Guess he doesn’t realize that if he gets up to speed the water will go right out of the drain plug hole. Didn’t believe it and looked at my Uncle like he had 3 heads after we got caught in a down pour in my skiff!

My dad did this same thing and drove down the lake and the water siphoned itself out then we plugged it. Never panic there is always a way son is what he said. ❤️

I did this once and just put the bung back in and bailed for about half an hour lol

Always keep a spare plug or two in your Boat. Worse case scenario if you forget to replace the plug, you get wet, but your boat stays above water.
