Got one mile out and my dad goes “did you put the plug in before I launched the boat?” Without answering I turned the boat around and accelerated as fast as it would go which only felt like 1/4 power.. then I pitched the motor up to get the bow as high as I could.. By the time we reached the dock we had about an inch of clearance on each side. Not a single word was spoken the entire ride in.

For one, this is not the result of a forgotten drain plug, they either took a nasty wave over the bow or got caught in a torrential downpour. For two, you shouldn't have to take the plug out if you have a boat without leaks which means you wouldn't forget to put it in.

Hey turn on the bilge pump and should automatically pump. And don’t worry RANGER boats don’t sink. If its a newer boat close the drain plug red knob. If its the screw in type your fine dive down between breaths and screw it in. But after you trailer it stay at the ramp let fully drain with the bilge pump to hope fully battery’s didn’t short out.

best way to drain a boat is to open the drain plug and gas it. The suction pulls the water out.

Always keep a spare plug or two in your Boat. Worse case scenario if you forget to replace the plug, you get wet, but your boat stays above water.
