Caught a bass first time using a spinner bait yesterday!! White spinner bait and added a nice clear white rubber trailer on the hook. The bass went for it and I hooked it!!! Very exciting for me even though it was only a 12" bass!!! I'm sold on spinner baits!!

*Great item. First cast out of the package caught a nice bass. Pulls smooth in the water and sets up nicely immediately upon retrieval. Worth adding to your tackle box.*

Hmm I seem to never even get a bite using spinner baits
@JG_23_ Жыл бұрын
So did you use a trailer or just throw it out straight out of the box? Because I tried without a trailer and caught nothing, and hopefully today maybe I can go back out and try with a trailer

After many years of fishing, I've caught bass and other predator species on everything from jigs, poppers, rapalas....but I've NEVER caught a fish on a spinner bait. And I have dedicated DAYS to only using and learning the ins and outs with successful buddies buuut it's just not in the cards for me haha.

@@BagheriSina of course, it’s just the only fish I ever caught is bluegill and a few bass here and there, after the video I caught my first pike on a spinner! And the only live bait I used was worms.

first time using a spinnerbait and 2nd cast caught my biggest pike ever :)
@StrawHatTony420 Жыл бұрын
My biggest pike ever was also caught on the first couple casts. Was using a buzzbait that wasn't even working right. I casted it out, tried to pull it to the surface to buzz the water and noticed the lure was tangled up/spinning in a spiral motion. Halfway through, a big northern shoots out of the water like a dolphin to grab it and misses. In my head I'm praying he tries it again. He shoots out a second time with my malfunctioning buzzbait in his mouth lol 😁

True true true. Absolutely true that the spinnerbait is the most versatile lure of all. When i cant get a bite on all other lures im guaranteed a bite on the spinnerbait. I get bit on the spinnerbait all the time. Bass of all sizes hit it

Good video Travis. As a bank fisherman ive never had any luck with a spinnerbait. But i have only one chartreuse spinnerbait ive tried minimally because i dont have any confidence in it. So if i want to give it an honest try before i give up on spinnerbaits can you tell me what 2 or 3 color spinnerbaits should i have to cover most situations? And being in northern calif , lake amador, don pedro, melones area, what blades and colors should i use as well? Thank you.
@travismoran96424 жыл бұрын
Great question. The blade I am throwing in this video is a fantastic all around color and size. I like something with one gold and one silver blade. Then, either a full white blade or a half white/shad and then half chartreuse, like the one in the video. Lastly, the 1/2oz offers me the most versatility at being able to fish different depths, casts easily in the wind, and just seems to be the easiest to handle. That being said, if you are fishing more from the shore, a 3/8 oz may work best for you. the reason is you are casting deep to shallow, so it is easier for you to keep the bait near on bouncing along the bottom than from a boat. I would try both sizes and see which works best for you. Thanks for the question and I hope this helps!

@@travismoran9642 Thk u Travis for responding. I do appreciate your time and your videos. I learn alot from you. Now ill go buy me some of those Dobyns D-blade beast soinnerbaits at my local Fishermans Warehouse store in 3/8 instead of 1/2 as u suggested for us bank anglers. Thank u very much!

I typically throw spinner baits using 30# braid on a spinning rod but probably half my casts comeback with the spinner blades tangled in my fishing line. How do I prevent this from happening?
@travismoran96424 жыл бұрын
It's most likely happening on the cast. On a baitcaster you are thumbing the line so it keeps the spinnerbait in line instead of tumbling in the air. With the spinning rod, you can slow the line down at the end of the cast, with your free hand, which make the bait land in the water already pointing in your direction. When it lands randomly, as you start to retrieve, the line can tangle in the blades. It's kind of hard to explain but I hope this steers you in right direction. I may have to do a quick IG video on this bc it's a great question with a simple fix once you understand what is happening.

Another tip try to use these with high wind with low wind and no water agitation they have more visibility and won’t bite it as much

Yeah high wind and low cloud cover works the best

Are trailers mandatory on spinner baits? If not, then when can you skip them?
@travismoran96424 жыл бұрын
NO trailers are not mandatory. My general rule of thumb is the more stained the water, the bigger the trailer I use. In clearer water I use a smaller trailer or non at all.

Hello I know it’s a small chance of you seeing this but I wanted to ask what should I do with a spinner-bait ? I have a snap on the end of my leader should I put it on the spinner or cut the snap or cut it and tie a knot in the spinner?
@braybray21313 жыл бұрын
When I fish spinner baits I will 100% keep the snap on, the swivel helps it spin in a natural way that the fish cant stand. I recently posted a video on my channel showing this u can check it out if u want!
