The wacky rig is an excellent tool for all levels of anglers. The simplicity of this rig makes it especially good for beginners. The wacky rig catches fish when other lures won't. I turned a quick evening fishing trip into a success with the wacky rig. I used the Reaction Innovations 4.5" pocket rocket and a 1/0 neko hook. I only needed this one combo to have fun. Sweet sesh Debo 😎🤙 Love when those hour and a half windows put "all-dayers" to shame 🤓 Danny Lee here, I've been fishing now for a solid year and half. After watching a couple of your frogging videos recently, I went out this morning at 1st light with a red and black Booyah pad crasher to test my frog mettle for the very first time. Well, sadly, I missed three blow-ups, but walked away with a smile having learned a little more. I then spent most of the day slinging a chatter bait, a jig, and a rattle trap, and finally caught a dink on a Texas rigged worm. I say all this because I was going to bring my wacky rig worm setup with me and decided to leave it in the car 😅 Go figure lol Anyway, thank you for the time and energy you put into your posts 🙏 I take notes every time I watch and enjoy the content thoroughly. At my little city lake the marina is boarded off so that you can only get like 7 foot or so from the window. They stick a broom handle out with a tray taped to to collect your money. This past fall season when the water was getting a bit colder and the bites were tough , I toss a 3” worm color stick lure out there , well 3” is too big for the blue gills to eat , and I would just watch my line as the stick lure flutter down and sudden my line just move to the side and headed away from me and I set the hook , caught a bunch of 2 pounders by line watching .

I used to trout fish a lot with my dad and he also said to wet your hand before you touch fish scales cuz they have a slime that protects them from infections. I also wonder if it’s really important to get the fish back in the water if they’re on beds.

Dunno what part of Iowa you’re in but I was at Easter Lake the other night and that water is insanely clear since they redid the lake. Didn’t catch much, just a bunch of baby bass and a walleye not much bigger than my thumb. And all that was on my kid’s Ninja Turtle pole with a bright green grub. 😂

Wacky rig is not my favorite thing to throw but it has done well for me this year in my subdivision pond, which is super clear with snot weed on the bottom like the one you fished in this video. Super finesse approach with 6lb. test and a 4" Yum Dinger; they really seem to like the color that is green pumpkin on top and blue on bottom (can't remember Yum's name for that color).
