We were out top water bass fishing with the Kopper's Hollow Body Frog in the lily pads when this bass chased my frog down at the boat. He got off, but still provided some excitement. Gotta love topwater fishing!

I am so very jealous of the lakes you have the joy to fish. Here in California all of the lakes are drying up due to the years affected by drought. Good job on the hooksets. When most people fish a frog, they want to set the hook right as the bass explodes at the surface. Got to wait a little bit to let em have it, then you cross their eyes! I had that problem and actually gave up frogs till I learned about how to set the hook properly with them.

@BassinCalifornia Poppie has a point. Another thing to remember is to not react too quickly, give it a chance to suck the frog right in, drop rod tip pointed toward the fish, take up slack and give it a solid set as apposed to suddenly yanking the bait out of it's mouth. When I set you could say its a two part action. Once the slack is up, I lift the rod tip till I feel the weight and set back with a 1-2 foot solid pull.

Live target is by my opinion the best. The hollow body has 3D design with the best paints. The frog is amazing to throw, I use 65 lb braided for the heavy cover. Never have snagged one, easy to pop or walk. Trick is trim a leg skirt and you can walk across the open water mimicking a live shad swimming. When you see the big money bassers using frogs in open water that is what they are doing.

Hollow body frog hook sets aren't most often a miss on the hook set. Try to open the gap of the double hook.

i love frog fishing... every once in a while you get that one fish that hits the frog within 3-4 seconds of the frog hitting the surface, and when you set the hook, it feels like you hooked a cinder block buried in the mud... thats what i fish for.

it's not easy but you really have to let them take a hold of it and wait like 3 seconds before you set the hook, i know normally i set the hook right away fishing most other lures, but with frogs you gotta give em some time to make sure that hook is deep in there and you'll get a solid hook set... I don't generally use frogs that often, buzzbait > frogs any day, but still

yeah I've used them but like i said, in general I don't use frogs all that often, more often buzzbaits, but when I do it can be difficult to hook them.. it also depends on how much the fish commits to the hit, maybe if you use a smaller size frog you'll have better luck

I have a medium size pond where I live in Arkansas. Its clear water but it does have a little moss here and there on the bottoms and usually during the spring time and summer there is a section of lilly pads. What kind and color of frog do u suggest to use.

imo the trick is to bring lots of beer and a nice soft cushion for her to sit on. Oh and also make sure there's lots of fish to catch because if she doesn't catch anything she won't understand why we went fishing in the first place. Depends where u are fishing. If there is lots of slop, use 50+ braid. In open water like this video, u can get away with floro or mono

i dont get it i go fishing all the time and i use stuff like the red eye shads and the kvd 1.5 and i use a few xcaliber squarebills for crankbaits and thats just the crankbaits i usually use out of all my other stuff. i fish it just like the you tube videos explain i try my own ways and i fish 5 different lakes and 3 ponds and i never catch any bass over 16 inches? would you happen to know what im doing wrong?

either those fish are done spawning, or that habitat is deprived of food for the bass. The bass i catch here in Alabama aren't as big as the ones you get, but they sure are a lot more bulkier. I still wish i could catch bass off of topwaters.
