And we're back with another brilliant cover from Geoff Castellucci! This one hits close to home, being such a huge fan of Game of Thrones, and Geoff did a great job capturing the essence of the original in the first portion of the song, and making it his own in the later portion(s). Not to mention, his arranging reflected the genius composing that Ramin Djawadi did for the entire Game of Thrones show. Hope you enjoy! The Lannisters send their regards...

At this point, I don’t think anyone is surprised by a clean D1 from Peter lol. Chest fry (from my perspective) is so much more manageable in terms of consistency, as Peter demonstrates on all of his videos! But yeah, a clean D1 is always impressive!

@@YandreYak My opinion of bass singers was ruined as a child. I had an uncle who sang bass in choir, and *everyone* praised his singing. He droned. He droned low. Yes, he got down there, but you couldn't make out a word or a syllable, it was just a low drone. Geoff and Peter completely recalibrated the difference for me between a good bass singer who seriously works on their musicality, and guys that can go low but try to fake it without the work.

I never watched GOT but Geoff has said it's worth watching for the music alone. so maybe I will at some point. It was noticable that Geoff on the right had to keep one arm still. which for Geoff is the kind of detail that sets him apart. He has said it was difficult. :) Geoff has said he uses samples a lot in his videos, spending hours to find just the right one.

Man that bass gang shirt is super clean. And whether by design or by accident, I feel it’s quite appropriate that the collar coloring resembles your pit vipers ^_^ love it. Edit after watching full video: the missing hat was definitely the very first thing I noticed about this video, but the cut looks good :) also I loved the explanation regarding blending with use of violin vs trumpet sounds. Great way for anyone not musically inclined to understand it, and it actually makes more sense to me too even though I was in concert/jazz bands for 5th grade all through highschool.

First, wonderful reaction and analysis. You always have such interesting and insightful things to say. Second, can I just say how much I appreciate that you show yourself actually hitting the like button on the video you're reacting to? It's a small pet peeve of mine that reactors ask for likes/subscribes on their own video, but then don't show that same courtesy towards the artist they're reacting to. Anyway, keep up all of the awesome that you're doing!

Awesome analysis, it doesn’t ever feel like a 28 min video, feels way shorter, because I enjoy your breakdowns so much! I always appreciate little musical details, like when you pointed out the B natural thrown into the chord. As a band/orchestra person, I found the analogy about the trumpet/violin very interesting! I had never thought about how the attack of it makes all the difference in sound. Even though I started watching you because of your acappella analyses, I also appreciate when you breakdown instrumentals too. 😊 Can’t wait for (hopefully 🤞🏻) PTX next week! 😁 (And cool Bass Gang jersey!)

You are so good at this! It’s so good to get a clear breakdown of what’s going on. I’m glad you said that about the instrumentals. During chat during the premiere, Geoff made some kind of comment about how hard it was to play all the violin parts. It had a kind of facetious feel to it but I took him literally and was going on in comments about how he played all the instruments. He was, in a way, but yeah, it makes more sense if he did it the way you describe (tho it wouldn’t surprise me if he could actually play several instruments). Your teaser sounds sweet! I literally cannot wait for the full release!

Not a GOT viewer and I was unfamiliar with the music so I checked it out before watching this version. To me it was more spoken than anything else so I didn’t check out the soundtrack because I found it without dimension. Now I know why I found this so much more interesting although I never could’ve put it into words like you did. So thank you for pointing out all those little tiny details. I am going to go and listen once again to his karaoke track which does not have the lead and it may make some more sense. I’m also going to check out the score because the things you talked about are the things that draw me to this particular piece. I’m not a Skyrim fan but I downloaded that soundtrack because I found it amazing. But based only on the snippet I heard of this song prior to this video I was not interested. Thanks to your comments, I’m going to check it out. Excellent analysis and most of it made sense to me and I have absolutely zero musical knowledge. I’m working my way through your back catalog and as soon as I can find the funds I’ll be trying to jump on the Patreon train. I hope the rest of your season in Santa Fe goes well.

Home Free + Oak Ridge Boys - Elvira acapella version. I know you've reacted to Home Free before, but Oak Ridge Boys have been around since the 70's. Very playful fun to listen to. I also wanted to express my thanks for the videos! Though never particularly talented at singing, it was something I did enjoy. Music has been a long passion of mine. Good music and lyrics together can be so amazing! Myself - I love to hear more of the percussion and bass. They seem to be the foundation to help take a song from 'nice' to wow! Perhaps this is my own prejudice, but seeing the Alto's and Bassists get the center stage! (YAY!) Also thank you for explaining some of the more technical aspects with what is being done to achieve some of the sounds and such. Wanting to be better able to understand the technical aspects can also give you a far greater appreciation for the vocalist. I'd also love to see your thoughts on Nightwish's End of an Era version of Phantom of the Opera with the original female vocalist. Would like your operatic opinion of the performance. Heilung is also a very unique group, but they do use some tech to achieve some of the sounds. The Charismatic Voice she did a review and an interview with the lead female vocalist.

Belated birthday wishes Pete, ra whanau. Loved the blending in this and what seems like Geoff is hanging off the notes and timing a touch. Makes it more chilled and pulled back. Was he phasing? I wasnt sure if he was (14.03 with not). Great review thank you. Big Geoff fan.

Are you going to do an analysis for Monster Mash from Geoff? I looked through your videos, but I didn't see one.

Peter I enjoy your reaction videos so will you please do a reaction video of Voice Plays new cover of In The Hall Of The Mountain King ? As you know it is an incidental piece done as a symphony orchestra piece. There are no words to this song so you will be surprised to see what Voice Play has done with this. Also stay tuned for Geoff's new solo about an old cowboy Halloween style.

And Tywin destroyed House Reyne in the most baller way possible, too, proving at a young(ish) age that he was not one to be messed with. Castamere was a stronghold that was mostly underground because it started off as a mine. The Reynes thought they could hide from Tywin by going down underground and wait him out. So Tywin, like the badass he was, diverted the river to flood Castamere, so that the one thing that was preventing Tywin getting in also ended up preventing them from getting out before they drowned. EVERYONE was killed. As far as I know, nobody in the Westerlands rose up against him ever again.

Misty Mountains Cold, too. Geoff has joked that he gets more use out of Pattycake's set pieces than Layne and Tony do.

Peter, I enjoy very much your analysis videos. I am asking, nay, pleading with you to react to Dimash's apparent remote contribution to Tokyo Jazz 2021. He seems to be singing a Japanese song in that language called Akinaide. It is a departure for Dimash and has become a favourite of mine of all his music. It would be very interesting to hear your analysis of Dimash's Akinaide. Please and thank you from a regular follower of yours.
