Adding a good bead of 100% Silicone caulk under the top drain assembly is my favorite trick to make sure it never leaks. After you screw it down tight just take a paper towel and wipe away any that squeezes out into the sink area. Also, anywhere you have a threaded pipe you should use pipe tape. Very nice video. We were teaching our teen daughter how to change out a sink faucet and this video showed her all the steps perfectly. Don't let your kids move out until they learn basic household repairs.....and how to make toast and boil water so they don't starve in college Lol.

There's no need for Teflon tape on those threads you should only need plumbers puddy or caulk to set the sink and make sure it doesn't move

@@rsswolf7068 How come teflon tape is not needed? Is having it still good for extra security though?
@presterjack9764
@presterjack9764 Жыл бұрын
@@lemons_s Teflon tape helps create the seal on tapered threads. But not all threads are tapered threads, if there's something else creating the seal then the teflon doesn't make a difference. In this example the threads weren't making a seal, they're just pushing a tapered piece up into the joint. Another example would be the compression fittings in the flex hoses, the threads don't need tape because they're only being used to push down the compression ring

Nice video thanks for the effort and sharing. Just two notes, need to put a bead of plumbers putty underneath the drain pipe that installs through the top of the sink. When you take it down the putty will squeeze out which will help prevent any leaks, just wipe away the putty that squeezes out with a paper towel. Second, you recommend it to tighten everything as tight as possible. Not a good idea, overtightening plumbing can cause leaks, just get it tight but not as tight as possible. Thanks again bro
