My parents’ bath faucet wouldn’t divert water to the shower. I never had this problem but has to resolve. Thanks to this video and replaced the spout/shower diverter. At first, I looked for the screw on the underside that didn’t exist. Realizing my tourque was needed to twist off the old spout, it came off easily. $11 new one from Walmart went on with no trouble. Hello . I was watching a video on how to replace a bathtub spout and saw your comment . I want to pass on some info . I to moved to an older home and have had issues with clogging and slow drains . This has worked for me . Lowes sells DAWN Ultra Heavy Duty . Its very concentrated . I raise the temperature on my hot water heater to very hot . I run the hot water for about 5 mins . the hotter the better . afterwards I pour DAWN right in the drain while the hot water is running . I have used the entire 56 oz in the kitchen sink and i have to say it has made a big difference . I have a quick drain again . Now i do it to bathroom sinks and tubs . this really removes the build up oils and grease with in the pipes . avoid getting this DAWN on your hands it takes for ever to remove and dries up your skin . good luck

If it's one like mine in the video where it's threaded onto a pipe you may just need more leverage. A large Pipe wrench should remove it without any problems although it may damage it. @@maliksherrodofficial2985 k good luck. If solder be sure to tigh wet towel around base of copper pipe so doesn't overheat and loosen joint behind tub wall

mine dont have the screw set, i cant turn it counterclockwise to unscrew it, even with the wrench..😢
@JonnyDIY6 ай бұрын
No set screw underneath? If no should just unscrew counterclockwise. May need soak in wd40 or heat it up if seized. Last resort be cut it off grinder
@Bubba_2142 жыл бұрын
If the original spout has the set screw, can it be replaced with one that doesn't or vice versa?
@JonnyDIY2 жыл бұрын
One with a set screw must be replaced with another with set screw, but I believe a threaded one could be replaced with a set screw spout

They it's going to be a valve issue and youll need to take it apart and see if seals need replacing or whole mixer valve 👍

What if i have to replace the pipe... how do i take that small pipe off... The thread is rusted.
@JonnyDIY Жыл бұрын
You can use pipe wrench to loosen off. Be sure to use pior dope and or thread tape on new piece. And let water run out pipe and check with flashlight make sure the connection isnt leaking 👍

When I unscrewed my faucet the pipe was bent I don't know if I did it while I was unscrewing the faucet or if it was like that but what should I do
@JonnyDIY2 жыл бұрын
It may have been like that before. If not too bad can leave it if not leaking and not too noticeable. Replacing would be a different story depending how it was plumbed
@randygomez9522 жыл бұрын
Yeah now that I examined it it was like that before and that's why I had that weird noise coming out of faucet because of the pressure I might have to replace it but at least it's not going to be my fault LOL thank you so much for replying to me take care

Perfect. This is exactly what I wanted in a quick video. Question. would you recommend fixing the diverter mechanism at all, or just buy a new spout?
@JonnyDIY3 жыл бұрын
Glad to help. You could take apart and see whats making it not work correctly. Sometimes its just a little o-ring seal gasket that you can switch. The lever knob unscrews off usually to take apart

My hot water faucet makes a loud squealing noice when turning off the faucet? Would the problem get fixed by changing the entire bathtub spot/diverter ? Thanks for any advice.
@JonnyDIY3 жыл бұрын
Possibly if you can pinpoint noise better may help. Sometimes that is more caused by the mixer valve
@JonnyDIY3 жыл бұрын
But if I remember correctly Ive had a spout that made the funny noise too, and that can be fixed by replacing spout or taking it apart and cleaning and possibly replacing seal
@TheEmmahayes2 жыл бұрын
Is there such thing as the pipe sticking out too far that you can’t replace the spout? I was told I couldn’t replace mine because the pipe was too long but the diverter is now broke
@JonnyDIY2 жыл бұрын
No you should be able to replace it still 👍

My caulken cracked at the space what do u recommend?
@JonnyDIY9 ай бұрын
Scrap and remove all the old caulking off, then tape off like I did and I suggest using a 100% silicone caulk. Can get clear, white or even other tones to match tub 👍

How do you put a rust filter on your tub faucet
@JonnyDIY2 жыл бұрын
Hmm Ive never done that but I imagine it goes on between the spout on the pipe from the wall. Looks like there's some filters available you just hang over end of spout though 👍

Mines the Deverter is in the back but does it still matter if the Replacement one the where the Deverter Located
@JonnyDIY3 жыл бұрын
You may need to get a similar one to replace because of the length of pipe that comes out is usually shorter with that type of spout. You may need to remove temporarily to figure your options for replacement

We replaced ours and when you pull on the diviter the shower doesn’t work, what did we do wrong?
@JonnyDIY4 жыл бұрын
Im guessing the new diverter is defective. Should work. Does it spray past. Or just fall back down. Make sure you have pressure on high. It wont turn on shower part unless pressure is up

How do you remove and replace the knobtht you showed here turn on and off water

Theres a cap in the center of the control knob you have to removed with small flathead screwdriver or razor blade then theres just 1 Phillips head screw under that cap 👍
