Right. What's the point? To say after 30 years of living on machines he would suddenly murder the people that rescued him? It feels out of character. I would have rather seen him use his new body to try and clean up Gotham again. In the current ending, even though Azrael died, he still won, as Batman adopted his methods.

Tbh, i must agree with the vast majority of others who commented here. the ending seems wrong and very unlikely for him to kill both of his savior at that time and should not have been done as well to keep the comic more in line with batman mindset even if was "darker-broken batman! and no, i'm not saying we could not have a murderer batman from now on!! the entire twist of this comic, is that batman in the end "failed/lost" and "Azrael won", because batman became a new "azrael", at least a perfect-better one (in his mind), so even if he never admitted to Azrael in their 30 years of visits, batman in the end recognize that Azrael methods are better and is the better batman, because he is doing the same as azrael was doing.. for example just like azrael "burned" the old gotham because he felt it was too far gone, batman is doing the same with the same mindset by his final monologue!. the only problem is that batman, in his new mindset, saw Azrael as flawed and not worth because Azrael was pumped with "venom" here, this more or less makes him "flawed", this is implied in the scenes in the comic about their talk: where he will not be able to handle it and make a mistake because of it! where batman does not take "venom" , thus in turn not only he became "azrael" by adopting his methods but he sees himself as perfect new "azrael" , one that is not taking venom and is in perfect control of himself! thus he can do better and be a better "azrael" and handle all future "crisis" as it should! this is the entire transformation of batman, i got from this comic when i read, a "broken" batman, because now he kills, but still batman nevertheless as in a sense of being excepcional/perfect in his own way-method! in reality this was more or less the ending that should have be!! and this is exactly that i believe the killing of the 2 kids is wrong, having him becoming a new Azrael to backstabbing killing two of his saviors at front close, seems a little over the top and put a dent in the so called "new/perfect" Batman'rael form, as something that not even the most craziest of batmans would do, not even a broken one because it simple does not fit with even the persona introduced here as "batman'rael form thus it looks too forced you see and this is why it seems and feels wrong!!
