Freeze was actually killed by Joker in the comics at the time because DC was retiring the character. During the Knightfall arc though, Freeze woke up in a GCPD morgue talking about a failsafe. In fact, back in the sixties, DC was going to retire Catwoman and Riddler, thinking kids were scared of them. But with the cast of the Adam West movie going on PR shows, they learned that kids liked them and kept them around.

Don't want to be rude, but this is the spirit I never like in Frank Miller interpretation of the Bat(also Zack Snyder). His rogue gallery is infamous not just because they are iconic characters but also they are foils to Batman himself, most of them had familiar experiences with tragedy what molded them into what they become. He always emphasized with them, just as much as the innocents he sworn to protect. There are multiple version of the character of course, but this is one of the element made him to a hero, without this just a maniac sociopath.

not sure how killer moth would fit into that.... but yeah i have always disliked frank miller's interpretation. It's also wrongly credited as why batman went back to his roots. The story that changed Mr. Freeze forever. Before this, Mr. Freeze was at most a gag character popularized by the Adam West series where 3 different actors played him, Mr Freeze simply would be after Batman because he exposed him to a 'solution of instant freeze' that meant his body could only exist in the cold. When Paul Dini got his hands on him though, he revitalized Mr. Freeze as a tragic character, Dr. Victor Fries, giving him the Nora backstory to add further purpose to his plight. A newer, more imposing look aided in creating the blueprint of how Mr. Freeze is seen today, and the episode skyrocketed Batman TAS' popularity, winning a Daytime Emmy. Mr. Freeze would indeed return in a straight to video movie called Batman & Mr. Freeze: SubZero Fun Fact: Mark Hamill voices Ferris Boyle, just to add to his list of TAS voicework They definitely tried to homage this episode in the Batman & Robin movie, it's just that the rest of the film doesn't carry well

The goon being put in the chemical bath looking just like Luke in the bacta tank and Freeze hanging Batman upside down with his feet stuck in ice like the wompa did with Luke. This is the first episode with a character they knew would be voiced by Mark Hamill, and they saw the chance to put those easter eggs in there. Originally Tim Curry was going to be the voice of the Joker and he recorded the first few episodes with Joker. As wonderful and fantastic Tim Curry's voice is, they just weren't getting what they were looking for with him, so they recast. Mark Hamill had been campaigning to do a voice for this show, and he got the chance with Ferris, but then he tried out for Joker and they loved him and had him go back and rerecord the episodes that Curry had already done.

Arnold as Mr Freeze was almost a perfect casting. I'm being serious. It seems so arbitrary that you would have Mr. Olympia as a scientist but the reason he was cast was because of the terminator. Mr. Freeze is supposed to be emotionless. That's the most important aspect of his character. He's driven by revenge but He's cold, calculated, and completely emotionless. EXCEPT when it comes to his wife. that's his shred of humanity. If Arnold and the director actually understood the role he could have been great at it. You have to remember that the Batman movie with Mr Freeze came out in like, 97. True lies came out in 94 which was the first movie besides the terminator movies where Arnold's acting wasn't awful, on the contrary, it was great. My point is, I do believe that Arnold could have done that role justice had the writers and director known anything about batman and Mr. Freeze. It's a damn shame, because he's probably the best Batman villain (yes, aside from The Joker, obviously).

Also, Im kinda sad because this was the most perfect version of Mr Freeze, and people sleep on it because its not in a major live action motion picture, but at least its better than the god-awful pun-heavy Shumacher version. @@jonmercano1138 On the last episode of The Mandalorian. The BIG question is when they would start doing it since they've been mentioning that they were going to start reacting to The Clones Wars while watching the films 9-10 months ago and they've just finished with Season 2 of The Mandalorian 2-3 weeks ago. Now 2-3 weeks later they haven't started reacting to the show and they continue "shooting themselves in the foot". Lastly, it's going to be interesting how many episodes they would react per week cause other than Naruto Shippuden (which is 2 episodes per week), the majority of the show's they're currently reacting are usually 1 episode a week.

2:18 i totally agree, I like the gothic art style and everything but one thing I really liked about Batman the Animated series and the Superman animated series but still i loved how it was hand-drawn on paper. the backgrounds were usually drawn on black paper, that's why it always seems so dark. even during the daytime, it seems dark. The superman show wasn't as nice to look at because that took place in the daytime too often, still great though, I wouldn't change it.

In the end of Batman and Robin, Alfred also had the disease Mr Freeze's wife had and put her in a cryogenic state until a cure could be found. Batman found a cure for Alfred, and offered to make one for Freeze's wife, which is why he was willing to sit out his term and not cause trouble. Also in Batman and Robin also had Batgirl, played by Alicia Silverstone. However in Batman and Robin Batgirl was Alfred's Granddaughter instead of Gordon's daughter.

Gotham would be the worst city to live in. Any given day you could wake up to a frozen city, laughing gas in the streets, muggings, kidnappings, carnivorous plants, alligators in the sewer, man bats and all manner of monsters parading through the streets.

Coming soon: the deleted scene where Mr. Freeze is banned from Mario Kart, or 'Gotham Kart'. Some of the most acclaimed 22 minutes on animated television. The whole show technically won awards for good writing but earned special mention for this. I always like when Freeze is juxtaposed with Batman showing the dangers of his eternal mission leaving him too 'cold', robotic and detached to have any friends or partners. That's the key difference between them, and it's always good to see Bruce recognize that and willingly pull back from the abyss.

You're remembering 2 separate movies as one; in the Batman/Superman movie, World's Finest (which was really just a 3 part episode from Superman TAS that was packaged as a movie) they fought the Joker and Lex Luthor. The movie you're thinking of is Batman & Robin: Sub-Zero, in which Batman and Robin go after Freeze after he kidnaps Batgirl because his wife needs an infusion of rare blood.

Funny enough, his wife turns out to still be alive, but frozen in the cryogenic chamber. She was used as a bargaining chip in a later episode and, in the animated movie... Well, let's say the ending is very well deserved for him.

My favorite version of Mr. Freeze! I was hoping they adopted that for Gotham but like everything including logic they went another way. "Remember, there may be some momentary discomfort." R.I.P. Michael Ansara Best Mr. Freeze ever! How about reacting to Gargoyles, 90s Spiderman, Samurai Pizza Cats and/or Brimstone (a sci fi series that only lasted one season co-starring John Glover).
