Very impressed by the LG V40 here. According to your test the LG gets 0.42 minutes per mA, while the note gets 0.367 minutes per mA. A lot of reviewers complain about the smaller battery of the LG, but it hangs in there quite well. I'm typing this on my V40 and its been quite good on battery. Thanks for doing the video.

Just some tips. Set brightness to same brightness instead of max. Measure so the brightness is same so its more fair. Also set phones to 1080p if they can to make it more fair. Other than that great video.

Right, each phone has different maximum brightness. I would also agree res should be 1080p. A retest would be nice. I'm all about LG but I'm having a hard time believing V40 is #2 and seeing the mate 20 pro struggle

Pretty surprising results for the V40. Mine had horrible battery life. As to the Mate 20 Pro, Anandtech did an amazing review and concluded that the screen on that phone was VERY inefficient with respect to battery, even the idle drain, which is probably why it didn't do so well here.

LG V40 has a battery saving software optimization that somehow makes the battery life exceed 20% past its limit, which is pretty funny how it works just like that

This is not the correct way to test battery. It is kinda misleading. You should at least set all display to the same brightness but not the max level of all devices, since their max brightness is so different. Mate 20 pro in vivid mode can offer 600 nits very high brightness. Don't you see some devices are noticeably brighter , such as mate 20 pro? That consumes a lot of battery. As a mate 20 pro user, I usually get around 8 hours screen on time in really life with auto brightness.

the thing thas most reviewers (since you didn´t mention it I assume you did it wrong aswell) is taht samsungs smartphones have fullhd as standart whilst the v40 e.g. has Qhd as standard. Turn Qhd on for the samsung aswell and see how it dies before the v40. It was the same thing with the test of the G6 and the S8 my brother and I got both phones brand new and tested it with QHD on both phones. The s8 died whilst the g6 had 6%

What happened there with the Huawei? Was it on max resolution while the Note 9 was on 1080p? That's the only reason I can think of why the Note won over the Mate 20 Pro. There's no way otherwise. The results were not what I was expecting. I have been looking at new phones to replace my LG V20 and was trying to decide between the Note 9 and the Mate 20 pro, I decided against the V40 because of all the reviews that say it has poor battery life, but this review showed in the real world it's completely different and as the LG V40 can be had for around the $500 dollar mark here (hundreds cheaper than the others) guess which one I purchased.

To all you that say the gaming Phone battery is bad you all dont realize its on a 120hz refresh rate that type of stuff eats up battery just turn of 120hz and you can have up to 2-3 days pf battery life playing games and what not thats why im getting Razer 2 On Christmas

Just double checked, Samsung was on WQHD+ which is the maximum resolution. Huawei was on the default "Smart Resolution", which "Automatically lowers screen resolution to save power".
