great review as always, did you notice the X50M rear wheel steering during your road test, suspension upgrade against the X40 noticeable ?? i think there is a luggage load net in the storage bin ?? not sure if standard, some seem to show during reviews. I have a gripe , if it’s a SUV, with this range, you would tend to load up the rear, why have the charging leads in the under floor boot space! When its raining in the UK (always), you would have to empty the boot, or have then floating lose, if range top up needed.

Chances are you won't be using the cord on a road trip unless you're in an emergency situation or you're at your destination where you may have already unpacked anyways. However, if there's a need, you could just remove the cords from the floor and leave them on the top of the bin at the back of the trunk. You could instead put less critical items under the floor.

1:31 I've talked to BMW about them implementing charging speed and they said it's been forwarded to the proper department, so hopefully iDrive8 EV's will show true charging speed in a future update.
@jeppewerring
@jeppewerring 2 жыл бұрын
My specific request was to add the kW speed in a number above the charging bar that is currently there, it's the same concept as the state of charge in iDrive8. it's a bar from 0-100% but it also shows the current charge which at 1:35 is 97%.

That's not really fair though. He drove the Model Y in perfect summer conditions with no AC and summer tires. Do that in the iX and you'd easily get 450km. On the contrary if you drive the Model Y at 2 degrees, winter tires and heater on you're also not getting the 380km he got out of it. Probably sth around 300km.

It's a shame that one of the first range tests is done in the winter, and especially at 130 km/h (81 mph). Not that there's much choice about the temp at time of testing. A lot of people still don't understand how much cold weather and speed impacts an EV's range and they may compare this range to cars that were tested in warmer months at slower speeds. Say at 113 km/h (70 mph) and at 22C (70F). It's just an overall bad look. If you don't understand what I mean, EV range is HEAVILY impacted by the large amount of energy it takes to artificially produce heat, whether that's to heat the cabin or heat the battery. The higher the delta between the outside temperature and the cabin temperature, the more energy needed. However, even more than that is the impact of aerodynamics at high speeds. As a vehicle travels faster, the aerodynamic forces acting upon it increase exponentially. Cold weather increases air resistance, magnifying the issue. That's especially bad in a vehicle with a large front surface area, such as the iX. Its lower drag coefficient certainly helps mitigate this a bit, but there's only so much that can do.
@jimtheseraf2

Guys saying Tesla Model X has more range... really???? Acording to Nylad Model X has 402 km range on SUMMER at 120km!!!! While iX gets 370km in winter!!!! Their range is not even close!! Have you guys remember how off teslas are reporting consumption... and their range at winter fades like air!!! So we should think twice when we compare EVs... is not good to relay on urban myths etc...
