BATTLE OF THE GLADDEN FIELDS - Third Age Total War Gameplay

So from the historical point of view, Isildur is marching back home with about 200-300 Men. The Orcs do indeed ambush him, but with their superior skills, weapons and armor, Isildur's and his men keep the orcs at bay, even though they are outnumbered greatly. The Orcs attacked two or three times and probably would've retreated, but the Ring called to them and it drove them to keep fighting. The Orcs knew they couldn't fight the strong Men of the West, so they came up with a clever idea. In the last attack, two orcs would throw themselves on one man to crush and kill them, in this way Isildur lost all of his men, three of his sons died that way as well. Before his third son was killed, he told his father to use the Ring to get away. Isildur removed his armor and jumped into the river to escape. The ring slipped off of Isildur's finger and sunk to the bottom of the river. Isildur at first felt a great disturbance and he tried desperately to reach down and grab it, but couldn't reach it in time. As he swam back to the surface he felt a great relief come off of him. He waved through mud and marshes and emerged from the river. The Orcs had sentries placed along the river to kill anyone who tried to escape from the battle. They sniffed out the wayward Isildur, but though they saw Isildur, they were scarred as he appeared as a monster to them. The orc archers fired widley as they fled and pierced Isildur in the eye and chest or it was the throat and heart. And so he died and his remains laid at the banks of the Anduin near the Gladden. The Elves that came were Thranduil and his army from Mirkwood that destroyed the rest of the Orcs and sent them fleeing back. They then retrieved the bodies of the Men who fell, except for Isildur. Only two men survived though only one name is mentioned Ohtar and his companion were told by Isildur to flee to Rivendell with the shards of Narsil

yep, even if some orcs escaped with the ring, the elves would hunt them down without mercy long before the orcs get the ring to safety, Isildurs death might have been unfortunate and sad to the elves, but really the ring is the most important thing, and they wouldn't stop trying to secure it.

I mean, that wouldn't have been a good thing. Elves are just as susceptible to the temptation of the ring as men, as evidenced by Galadriel's temptation to take it and Elrond + Gandalf insisting Frodo never offer the ring to anyone. If elves had taken the ring, it never would have ended up being destroyed. And besides, JRR Tolkien himself said that no one could have thrown the ring into Mt. Doom, the temptation was too great. Even if the ring was returned to Elrond rather than stolen outright, and even IF Elrond managed to bring it back to Mt. Doom, he wouldn't have been able to throw it in. In the end, it would just be a powerful elf lord with a powerful tool. Luckily, the ring went missing in the end and ended up in the hands of a proto-hobbit, who would indirectly pass it on to a hobbit known as Bilbo Baggins.

Archangel17 Neither would be good, they would both enslave you and attempt to forge a dystopian world in their vision. This is all referenced in Galadriel's speech when she contemplates taking the ring, as well as Sam's thoughts when he briefly considers claiming the ring.

King Thranuel, legolas's father, did in fact pass this road just before the forces of Gondor was smashed. So elves to help didn't actually happen but if their rear guard was slow it may have changed things. love watching your videos

I do not remember about his son and wife being in Rivendell but i do remember they were left behind. His esquire was sent to save the shards. If i am mistaken the book will set things right. Here is the portion about Thranuil. "The Dúnedain saw the Orcs but in the dim light their number could not be guessed, only that they were plainly many times, even to ten times outnumbered by them. Isildur realized that they were on their own: Moria and Lothlórien were far behind and Thranduil was four days' march ahead".

I love the strategy, ambushing, and especially the incentivized mission objectives. Such a great watch! You could do something similar with the Fords of Isen where Gandalf has to contact and regroup dispersed companies of rohirrim as described in the Two Towers. Cavalry mayhem and clutch charges are never in excess

Hi there! Something i'd really like to see in third age is a historical battle series with reversed roles of good and bad, for example: Helm's Deep Uruks defend, Rohan attacks, Rhun's cavalry come to save the defenders and trolls come instead of Ents. At Minas Tirith you have orcs defending agains't the hordes of Gondor, with rhunic cav coming instead of rohan and elven archer cav instead of Mumakils, instead of the ghost army coming to save gondor you have a swarm of nazgûls/black nümenorians/mumakils coming as the last ditch effort to save the defenders. I think it would be really fun to see!!!!!

Expectations about the video:Thinks that Arnor marches and then at the MIDDLE or the road Orcs just Banzai Rush Aronor from all sides and Slaughter em but a squad of cav somehow makes trought and reach elves that Revenge arnor or Arnor Just makes a Shield Box to prevent orcs from flanking theme since they are everywhere. Reality:Arnor forms a battle line+Cav Anvil's flanks+Silvan elf Reinforcments+High elf Reinforcments+Arnir falls at the Bridge=Rest in Mordor Orcs.
