So many incredible storylines happening and we just live in the muddled grey now. This is one of my favorite shows and holy wow as messy as things are it seems like it’s about to get a whole lot worse.

21:17 Even without the webisodes, Gaeta's descent isn't "out of left field." They've been laying the tracks for this for several seasons, even if it wasn't what they intended. In this episode we get callbacks to his almost-execution and losing his leg (to a Cylon, who is married to Kara, who was the most venomous of his would-be assassins). The only one who ever "apologized" was Tyrol, who just sat with him to eat and we never see actually choke out an "I'm sorry." Gaeta waa beginning to crack in season 2 (snapping at Tigh in CIC). He did the right thing by exposing election fraud, only for that to result in an abysmal Baltar administration (which Gaeta was a part of). That opened the door to the Cylon occupation. For someone like Gaeta, that's deeply personal. He "failed" to protect the people from the Cylons and thousands died. Even if it wasn't his fault, he's the kind if person to internalize that. Earth, the one thing making it worth pushing through, is a bust. Dee, the one friend who never ostracized him, takes her own life moments after he spoke with her. Again, self-blame and bargaining, the common "could I have prevented it" thinking that is wrapped up in grief. Now he sees Adama working with Cylons, disregarding the Quorum's ruling and the will of the people, allowing Cylons access to civilian FTL (the only defense most of those ships have). His untreated trauma, unresolved resentments, and hatred of the Cylons are steering his decisions. He's unable to see that Adama is making the most practical choice for everyone's survival, and instead sees a failing leader and a president who has gone AWOL. When the leadership ducks out, someone is going to rise up to fill the void. Enter a very traumatized and angry Gaeta, and the ever-ambitious Zarek.

Thing to remember in my opinion about Geeta is that he's lost a limb, Had the hope of Earth crushed, And had a good friend shoot herself in the head practically right in front of him, He's just as broken as everyone else if indeed not even more so..

I was so grateful for the reveal of Hotdog being the father of Tyrol's kid. Since the end of season 3 I was questioning why Athena's hybrid daughter was so important to the story while Chief's hybrid son was not. Wouldn't both kids represent the future of things to come? Having Tyrol's baby be fully human restored Hera to her unique place in the story. So this made me happy and relieved. What is really making me happy is how much you are enjoying this show. From the first minutes of the Mini Series I was certain you would love BSG and all the twists and turns that to come. And it feels good to see it's exactly that. Thanks. I am so looking forward to your final reaction to the series finale! I hope it's long. Like hours long. Maybe even several reactions long. Maybe a month long. Maybe damn the polls and watch Caprica just because.

BSG is easily Top 3 all time shows for me and this coming story arc was one of my favourites in the series. I never questioned Gaeta's motives as they felt natural to me with everything he'd been through! Not long now til series finale. What a journey it has been

Consider that Cally could have been pregnant before leaving Galactica to set up on New Caprica. She then would not have cheated on Tyrol since they weren't together. It is a bit of bad writing though, since we don't know when they really got together.
