Thanks for the shout out on the panel liner tip. If it dries on a surface you don't want it on just use a little bit of lighter fluid on a Q tip to remove it.

Nicely done! I had this kit during its original run - maybe 1979-80. LEDs werent as ubiquitous as today so I took one of those electric Christmas candles that we would put in all the windows. I drilled random holes all over the ship, put the candle bulb assembly inside and got my first introduction to light bleed. I opened it back up and lined it with aluminum foil and poked holes in it. It would get hot - the bulb was probably 25w, and I'm sure it would look really bad by today's standards but I was proud of it at the time. I really wish there was an active BSG license. I'd like to get another one of these from the original series and the reboot. But ebay prices are too much for what they are.

That's awesome! Do you have a picture of it? If so send me an email, I'll gladly show it on the channel !

@@thescifimodelguy I wish I did. I don't even recall what happened to it. It was cool to me at the time but looking back, it was no work of art. The world was a smaller place in 1980 without internet access. There was nowhere to learn techniques. My light holes were open air so at the wrong angle you'd get light searing your retinas. Knowing what I know now, I'd cover them up with some Elmer's glue and sand each one to make it more opaque and gave a soft glow.

Thank you! Yes I will definitely do that... I think I'm going to build a nice wooden display with a stain and varnish

You can use enamel thinner to remove access as the panel liner you're using is enamel. Just put a little on a cotton bud. You will get some nice effect that way.
