Battlestar Galactica Deadlock - The New Caprica Maneuver

This Battle was staged in Skirmish Mode to demonstrate the New Caprica Maneuver. This maneuver is based off the Battle of New Caprica in season three of Battlestar Galactica. This maneuver starts with only two Jupiters. They must hold position outside the enemy fleet and execute a flak trap on their fighters. After the enemy fighters are eliminated the battlestars must drop the flak to launch fighters. Then engage the enemy fleet until a lightly damaged Basestar is in line with one of the Jupiters. At which point that Jupiter should boost thrusters and ram the basestar. (NOTE: there is a slight chance your Jupiter will survive the ram, if so you are lucky). Then finish off the rest of the fleet and there is the New Caprica Maneuver.

3:23 the basestar starts spinning as the Jupiter begins its ram. its literally the moment the Cylon's probably figured out it was starting a ram. Wonder what went through their collective metal heads as it began its run. . Not sure if the most powerful thing about this tactic are the enemies killed or the burden on the processing power that the Cylons suffer by asking "What the f--?... *WHY?* "

This is why cylons lose these engagements:no anti missile defenses.the colonials throw up a wall of flak and unless cylon vessels get close their missiles get picked off.

Great shot of the flack field taking out the Cylon missiles. I heard someone talk about this tactic used by big, but never saw it displayed this way. Great job and thank you very much for sharing such a great video.

No matter what Lee Adama says, sacrificing an entire Battlestar to win a battle is not a militarily sound decision. In war, every ship matters in the long run.

At that range, I am curious why the Jupiters' main battery didn't open up on the basestars.

Two things. - In the game, Colonials have something called "Postureslider". High Defense Posture means thicker flak field and better armor resistance, but greatly reduced range and accuracy on the main battery, vice versa for Offensive Posture. - If your Flak field is up, you literally cant fire anything else through there, not even main batterys.

I tried escaping from New Cap with the modern fleet pack. 2 vs 4 with no viper support. You get drowned in raiders, I respect Fat Lee a lot more after trying 5 times.

in all honesty and imo, the Jupiter class battlestars look like they could ram things and survive, with a 60% to at most 70% chance of surviving, my reasoning is based on their hull shape. it looks a little like a blunted blade and if i remember correctly that class could pull in its launch pods thus meaning it could act as a blunt spear. i mean its not gona come away unscathed but it could work.

Watch the show's last episode. 45 years old Galactica endured much more than what it was designed for. It broke its own limits, and after 45 years of front line service, it rams a gigantic cylon ship, cylon mothership. And even lets Raptors jump inside it's starboard flight pod, making the starboard pod useless and punching a hole in it but that's not really important since it was a museum anyway, also you can thank me later for the spoilers.

zam023 the Pegasus was more armored, most of it's size was taken by armor and viper factories, it was very automated and required way less crew than galactica, it got destroyed because Lee was an incompetent idiot.

Not to undermine the Galactica's achievements, she was one hell of a sturdy old lady for sure. But regarding the ramming part, I'd give the Pegasus a lot more slack. When it rammed the colony, it was basically still, and just built up enough momentum to pierce the hull of the Cylon colony. Pegasus on the other hand was probably going full speed at the basestar for a lot longer, and that would destroy any ship, including the Galactica.

The whole disadvantage of the Cylon fleet and the reason they've been pounded so much to sign an armistice was that they don't HAVE guns. They always relied on missiles.

Personally I love this game much more than Battlefleet Gothic: Armada. Besides the replay feature, you can even just look at the last turn, I love the turn based game mechanic rather than the real time factor as it gives me time plan and move my ships but the simultaneous movement negates much of the disadvantage of IGYG turn based games.

Yes this is the replay feature on Battlestar Galactica Deadlock, its available on steam. If you are referring to the fighter at 0:07 then its a Cylon raider. The ship at 2:05 is a Cylon Cerberus which is a basestar in the game that has weaker combat strength than a normal basestar but has a third squadron.

The replay mode after the mission finishes is made to look like a cinematic scene like in the series. It is pretty impressive.

Should have also included the skyfall maneuver to lure the raiders away from the colonists. 5 seconds before she hits the ground jump! Adama 1 cylon taiders 0 Adama thug life!
