I love how for about the first 3 minutes of tens of people moving around the ship is actually shot in one continuous shot with no hidden cuts. It's easy not to pay attention to this stuff when you're just watching a story and that's okay.. you're not supposed to notice these things and pay your attention to the story and performance. But when you do take a step back and notice it, it makes the show that much more impressive.

Today, as a Naval Tradition, whether a ship is going into mothballs, turned into a museum ship, or broken apart ships are brought back to their highest standard before their decommissioning. It helps determine if they go into the ghost fleet (ready reserve) or if they are turned into razor blades. I decomm'ed two ships when I was in the Navy.

The miniseries originally aired in two parts on two nights, it gained more audience the second night, which is extremely rare, usually smaller audience for part two of typical miniseries. This made it easy for the go ahead for the continuing series.

2:12 It is so eery to see Galactica's hallways not cluttered with salvaged equipment and the CIC still clean and brightly light, her younger crew with so much joy and a carefree attitude in their stride and mind while the old like Cmdr. Adama himself linger in the twilight of peace having lasted too long. We can clearly see that he knew the Cylon's would someday return when he is briefed about the the surprise attack later on

Looking back you can guess at the emotions that Adama must have felt when he opened the picture. Pride at the respect of his crew and sadness about the loss of his family to death(his youngest son), divorce (his wife) and anger (his other son who blamed him for the death of Zack). I am sure that painting really hit him harder than he let on.

"...Galactica represented Caprica and was first commanded by Commander Nash" - Haha... nice to see Silas Nash appear in Blood & Chrome! I think the drum intro for Galactica in the score for B&C references this scene too. I was so lucky to have seen the mini when it first aired as I was completely unaware it existed and had somehow missed all announcements and marketing for this show. I know it's only 5 minutes in but even by this scene I could tell this was gonna be something wonderful and amazingly different to anything we had seen before. Fun fact: The producers were constantly telling the production teams to save money. They wanted them to be more efficient and to "cut corners" to do this. They really harped on this. As retaliation, the props department made that decision that all papers would have the corners cut off. Every sheet of paper (hell, even the hard cover books) had the corners cut off 😂

Some of the dialogue, sound design, camera work, and visual effects were pretty literally never seen before at this quality before BSG on non-premium cable television.

Wonder how different it would've been if Adama had jumped out to Armistace station, would that have provided sufficient warning?

no. the virus was well in. even if alerted most of the fleet will be helpless

That’s what I was wondering. They might have been able to alert all systems of a pending attack. And they might have been paranoid enough to scrub their network for viruses. It could have stopped “some” of the carnage.

Even if they werent torn apart by a basestar fleet, they wouldve only gotten information of an imminent attack, nothing about the CNP backdoor that wiped out the entire fleet, and as such similar events would've transpired
@hekkoCZ

@@danmichaud5506 That information of the attack could have actually condemned Pegasus! If they had rushed to get Pegasus operational, it may have made it vulnerable to the backdoor, too.

My favorite is Starbuck's, "MAKE A HOLE!" If you know, you know. Pretty much any vet, or vet's spouse, or kid, or pretty much anyone who has lived near a military post, knows that that's a polite way of saying, "GET THE F**K OUT OF THE WAY!" I'm also consistently surprised how many people know what, "Where's the head at?" means. Aside from one young lady, who took umbrage because she thought I was soliciting for, well, you know what.

Adama claiming he hasn’t seen a Mark II in 20 years but the museum was literally chock full of them, implying he didn’t even once visit that museum the entire time he’s commanded that vessel - can’t say I believe it

Ah yes, our first viewing of those backwards tank tops on top of tee shirts. I was Active Duty at the time and remember thinking, “Boy if I wore any part of my uniform like that, I’d catch all sorts of hell from the sergeants.”

Making it a plot point that all the tech is outdated was so genius because even in 2020, none of the early 2000s designed futuristic-ish tech looks bad/seems out of place bc it's literally canonically supposed to be old looking by any day standards
