Yup... he looked awkward at their behaviour throughout. That’s because none of the panel have any black friends. I’m not talking about ppl they might know socially. I’m talking about true friendship ... that’s why they are fawning so much. They are unsure of the gauge.

@Mohera Beason It's not ignorant to be honest and speak the truth. Freekyto is quite clearly trying to come across as ultra liberal and progressive. In reality the Xhosa language is just a bunch of clicking sounds and not exactly beautiful to listen to.

I did hear her a lot as a kid in the states, and was very distressed when a bit older to discover she'd been deported as she was wife to Stokely Carmichael & herself a civil rights activist. I love her music and it's a wonderful thing to hear Trevor in his mother's native tongue, if only for a moment.

But there is no much difference in pronouncing "Gqi" which is in "igqirha" as his good at pronouncing that and "ngqo" from "qongqothwane" which he fails to pronounce. According to how I rate Trevor on his Xhosa, he can do it. Its a matter of forgetting the song I guess.

+Ladi Smith This may be a coincidence, but there's a town named "Ladysmith" in Kwa-Zulu Natal, named after Lady Smith, wife of the Governor of the Cape Colony in the 1830s. The story goes that relations between her and her husband, Sir Harry Smith, were so strained that the town named after him, "Harrismith", is hundreds of km away with the Drakensberg Mountains in between them ..!

Oh my heart and soul! TN’s singing is beautiful!! I wish he would record the whole song. I would buy it in a heartbeat! Anyone know where to find a version of the click song that sounds like Trevor Noah’s singing??

Just stumbled upon this. I knew that the language existed from listening to the Kenyan Boys Choir and odd snippets on TV quiz shows when a contestant is asked an Africa related question and suprises everyone with a Xhosa related answer. I have fortunately had the honour and privilege to visit Kenya and i found that it was one of the few nations that try to teach you the local dialect in song, a wonderful people and nation!

This 'click language is spoken by the Xhosa people in South Africa. As far as I know they don't speak a click language in Kenya.

A 'cracking fella' is how English people (possibly British, but I only know English people to say it) refer to someone as a really good person. Fella means fellow, cracking is 'really good'. So we say something is 'cracking' a lot, a cracking meal, a cracking time etc.
