all you had to do is tap the edge of the flywheel on opposite sides and it usually pops right off. kinda like drum brakes.

How about putting in a 2.5 from the Ford Fusion, Mazda6, etc? That's a popular swap for NCs here in 'Murica.
@Bbeavis5 жыл бұрын
Not considering any engine swaps here, we just want an original car that's running. Any form of engine swap would make the car mostly no longer road legal or at least much harder to register for road use.

Some seem to say 100k miles / 150k kms for a normal road use RX-8 renesis. It depends on how the oiling setup was cared for.

Yes oil change will make you RX8 drive with no Problems... 2nd Advice.. Don't Upgrade your RX8.! Keep your RX8 to every 10k to 15 K oil change. Don't get sucked in to power up your RX8... If you do. You will have Problems.. I don't My car runs just fine being a RX8 form Mazda

What about a cheap Commodore V8 engine

While the donor car could be cheap, but getting it to fit, and making the car legal so that we can sell, would probably quadrouple the budget.

@@Bbeavis Yeah, been there done that. Part of the problem is the high torgue spec of that bolt, I believe it's 350 ft-lbs. In the car you typically need a breaker bar and a huge pipe.

If I can make a suggestion- There's a man named VARGAS, knows any/everything about "Doritos"(Hert w/Hoonigans) that you could dm for suggestions....could lead to a build colab?

Thanks for the thoughts Paul, in this case we're not looking for anything other than a standard engine, and being located in Australia, overseas workshops are well out of reach.

Too many toasted housings. OE oil system feeds dirty carbon oil from crank, and too little of it Those carbon also build up at the unpolished initial opening of side exhaust port and falls into the engine, causing that damage you saw on edge of the housing. Buy new housing, use the SOHN adapter to feed only the fresh mineral oil, and premix a small amount to cover for the low amount of oil, especially during low RPM driving. And REPLACE vacuum hoses going to the oil injectors every 30-40k miles to ensure they NEVER leak vacuum. Leak there will KILL the engine
