What struck me the most is how comfortable Mel is with failure. THIS is life-changing to me: that someone that successful could have screwed up so many times, and still come out on top. Amazing. Thank you a million times.

She comfortable with it as she has now moved past it. When she was going through it, she never could have talked about it like this. One take off for me is that shit will happen, mistakes will be made and you have to accept that and learn from the hard times and mistakes and really persevere. The high five yourself is a new and interesting concept to me. To supplement what she says about why it works is the idea that success breeds success. So start with small success and celebrate them, applaud yourself. String together several small successes as part of a larger success and your subconscious will respond by changing it's patterns and steering you toward more success. One big benefit of meditation and visualization, is in order to get to the point of effective visualization is, you have to clear your mind of all the crap that typically runs through it. You start with the relaxation breathing and focus on the breathing as you let all those various thoughts slip away. It may take several tries, spending 20-30 minutes of relaxation breathing to be able to clear your mind, but it will get easier and you will get to that point quicker, the more you practice it. I first did the relaxation techniques in high school for athletic competition. The counting down that she discusses here I also used while racing as a way to get me ready to "make a gear change". My point being that when you learn and employ some of these simple techniques for a specific purpose, doing small modifications using the same techniques, you will be able to adapt the benefits to other venues. eg. I learned it (being my routine) to help me in racing, Mel was using similar techniques to help with career and it can be adapted to help with relationships. Deepak Chopra also gives a lot of same information contained here, but it gets delivered a little different. I really like the way Mel explains it. Several books also explain how meditation and positive self talk work. Think and Grow Rich was the book I read in high school that introduced me to the idea and techniques of retraining the brain to help you rather than give you doubts and fears that hold you back. Anyway, hope my missive helps..

I call that a step in the right direction. Applaud yourself for that first step and that will lead to the next. If a problem or task seems too big to accomplish, just break it all down into a series of steps. Take one step at a time. Each step taken makes the next step easier. It's easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of everyday life and get overwhelmed but by listening to this and knowing that there are some simple things you can do and as silly as it seems, actually work and work very well, you have really taken a big step towards being able succeed in anything you do. Now you know. Next time you get overwhelmed, stop, relax and go back to just taking one step at a time. Remember to clear the doubt out of your mind and just focus on each step as it comes. I would love to hear about something that you have done in the past 8 months in which you employed Mel's techniques and how well it worked for you. If you had a few stumbles, no worries, each time you use what you learned you will get better at it, so don't let a few bumps derail you. Just keep going.

I have attempted to meditate many times in my life and prior to this CD the only success I've experienced is with live guided meditation. kzbin.infoUgkxzpa8CIfZcihW4Z0F_ja0QF3W9KIatrsq This is the first CD I've used that cuts through my unmedicated ADHD and enables me to truly relax and experience a quiet and energizing interval. The instructors voice is very soothing and pleasant to listen to. I am easily able to sit successfully through the entire CD, and for quite some time after. I cannot adequately express how tremendously helpful this CD has been on my spiritual journey!! Two thumbs up and 10 stars!

Okay this is the third interview I've watched with Mel, about her newest book. I can't stop watching!! Every interview blows my mind, every interview she tell different stories. I'm blown away but this lady and I can't wait to shake her hand one day! Also, I didn't realize how bad her anxiety was, the story about the AG and the speech.... that's me, or should I say that WAS me. I was afraid to talk on the phone or even deal with customer's at my previous place of employment. Now I'm doing network marketing literally something I never saw my self doing, and now I can't imagine doing anything else. I've broke out of my anxious, sad, limiting shell and I'm thriving, and I owe it all to self development and God. Now this high five habit is going to shoot me and my career into outer space!!!

I loved this interview and the fascinating back story about Mel Robbins’ career rise. I found the story of grit and resilience in her marriage to be really inspiring. Rich has such a gift for creating an environment for deep truth-telling. I’m amazed at how easy he makes it look, but to create a cone of safety for the guest and and to be that free and casual with all the studio tech going on is a clinic in documentary interviewing : ).

Mel Robbins doesn't know this but she's about to change my life. I relate to so much of her story, being riddled with anxiety, homesick as a kid to the point an emergency Dr was called in, diagnosed with GAD in my 40s, living in a constant state of anxiety, I used alcohol to mask my feelings. I could go on. Instead I'm going to embrace everything she says and do everything she does so that I can be the person I believe I'm meant to be. Thank you for your awesome and life changing podcast.

Absolutely eye opening! I resonated with Mel from Anxiety to just always running away from life and myself to finally, at 52, getting to really know and accept who I am. I have fallen in Love with this pod cast and everyone's story. We are all in this crazy life together. So blessed to have found this outlet. Learning so much all the time. Looking forward to future guests and ordering Mel's book as soon as I finished typing. Take Care. Peace Out. :-)

Thank you both, Mel and Rich. Huge respect to both for going through your own challenges and helping others... showing what is possible, and showing that it is not all smooth sailing... it it so hard to support myself after I default to old patterns... I just get harder on myself... This helps to move away from that... and accept it happening also... It is so amazing what you both are creating together in this show... showing authentic selves, being open, genuine and true in the talk... showing the messy part of yourselves inspires me to look into myself and my own situation differently and to believe in how "I beams" move in life... and learn to trust that good and beautiful things are coming as soon as I am ready for that...♥🙏

As I listened to this interview I found myself wondering “If Mel was a Black woman would her story be the same? Would all of those failures eventually lead to this level of success?” BTW Great interview.

Whoa. Kairos, my friends! I've been listening to the both of you recently, and find resonance in both of your stories. This, today, was medicine. I know, because I felt it. I'm 60, starting again from nothing...almost sold my Cervelo but not yet. Getting a new hip which initially I found insulting, but now I see it as "setting me up for something amazing." This episode was powerful, moving, and so meaningful for me, you know, like it was meant to happen(Kairos). Without going on, and on, I'm so grateful for this and look forward to my life opening up to financial stability and perhaps a relationship. Both of you have impacted me in bonkers positive ways. Onward! ...high five!

Thank you both for having this conversation and reminding me to give myself I high-five as I can totally relate with Mel. I felt so heard, seen, and validated. In a world where they all conditioned us to feel less than be accepted lieu of our achievements is so messed up that I'm happy to hear that we're all going through it together and help each other to reclaim our inherent power again. We are worthy for BEING ALIVE, damn it! I'm crying tears of joy feeling so supported by strangers online. We got this, y'all. We are love. We are.

I've heard only a half of the episode so far but I can't believe how many similarities there are between her story and Simon Sinek's. The TEDx happening quite organically for both of them, not intending to become speakers, speaking about a very simple idea that worked for them, the talk becoming hugely popular online without them even knowing, the first book not being on the list but becoming a bestseller later on.... And, she articulated her WHY quite clearly. To move people 👏👏👏

I listened to this through the day, as it was ending I was on the couch. I looked out the window and of course I see the ❤ shaped leaves on the arbor! Love and light to you both! P.s. I would watch Mel Ribbon show and listen to pod cast and now know why I couldn't find her, was right at beginning of shut down too! I was so sad...oh, and I High 5'd myself in the mirror yesterday, hearing this today I was like I guess I'm definitely into something!😊
