I’m amazed at how clean the first Wheatie was. I was also surprised by how little beach is left at high tide! Thanks for getting out there.

Hi Squirrel , sometimes the green just slides right off. They are made of 95% copper and 5% either tin or zinc . I suspect the ones that tend to wipe clean have the tin. Zinc get eaten up in the salt water like we see with the newer plated zinc pennies. I think the zinc would cause the green to stick. We were having very high tides at that time due to the Moon . Thanks for watching .

Hi Joanne , thank you . The water temp is down to 75 degrees . Not many people swimming now. When it gets below 72 they pretty much stop getting in the water until May. I hope to get a little more gold before the end of the year . It has been a rough season for gold this year on Daytona. Thanks for watching .

Yes we had are first snow we didn’t have much and it’s gone today but it still sucked. You had a great hunt today. It was cool you found a buffalo nickel. I love old coins. Bumped into an old friend up here in Canada, he and the family vacation in Florida every Christmas, he was telling me when they’re near Sebastian they do a beach day, rent metal detectors to search for old coins from the Spanish wrecks. They knew the names of the ships and the whole history and told me about the museum etc. have you ever heard of anyone finding coins from any of these old wrecks? Makes me want to buy a new metal detector and fly down for a week just to check it out. Thanks for the videos!!
@idigdaytona44783 күн бұрын
Hi GOLDnSILVERStacker , the museum is great. My friend Jimmy Crossbones on KZbin has had some fantastic finds down there. He has a video titled Spanish Gold that shows some of his finds. There is also a video on GONE DIGGIN channel where he interviews Jimmy and shows clips from this amazing day hinting the treasure coast titled "Feet in the sand" . Jimmy found a bunch of amazing finds. I think you will enjoy the videos. Thanks for watching .

Yes. Several of the wrecks were close enough to shore for MD finds. Need the right conditions, but yes. There are old timers that have found HUNDREDS of coins and artifacts, gold, silver, and iron.

A couple in Florida associated with Garrett back in the 70’s were giving tips and stories in a magazine article, the husband used a lot of discrimination to bypass junk and the wife didn’t use any and dug up everything, she detected trash on one spot and it turned out to be a platinum ring with diamonds.

Always a fun hunt at yhe beach! It's been a while since I've handled a buffalo nickel! It seems to me, that i used to see a lot of them as i grew up in the 60s!

Love finding the buffaloes. As you said, the dates are hard to come by since they are on a high spot. I’ve probably dug about 6 or so and only one has a date that’s legible. Still cool to find.
@idigdaytona44782 күн бұрын
Hi Geno , I found a real nice one years ago in a yard . The date was perfect too. It was from the 1920s. It must have been lost when new. The beach sand wears on them. Thanks for watching .

Hi baystateplugflipper, I find them after a big surf event. They are very hard like ceramic . You can hear it if you knock them together. Unlike cement having a more dull sound . Good luck and thanks for watching .

Another cool hunt. You can Nic-a-Date that buffalo to get the date. It is for sure the oldest coin of this hunt. They quit making them in 1938. It's the same year they started minting the Jefferson Nickle. No silver this time. But tomorrow... GOLD! I'm rooting for you. Great weather there right now. Stay safe brother.💯👍

Hi Vinnie , this hunt was a few weeks ago. I got ahead after the hurricane. I have been resting my arm. I did hunt earlier the week and was sorry I went with my shoulder being sore. @@idigdaytona4478 Pennies haven't been worth anything for decades. It actually costs more to make them than they're worth, and it's been that way for a while. More than a few people have said we should stop making them.

How much of that junk you gonna throw out? I stopped years ago collecting rent stakes rotten pennies rings junk jewelry. Lol

Hi Brian , lol , I have a feed sack full of beach trash, and a jug full of bling. I toss the pennies that are too far gone. When I get too many coins , I take some to the Coinstar machine. I get about $400 a gallon . I collect all the nice rings and jewelry. Thanks for watching .
