I've just watched five videos on tying this fly and I like your method the best. I have entire pheasant hides from my hunting, so I may try feathers other than the tail for the legs.

Thanks! There are so many great feathers on a pheasant pelt. The mottled feathers or the bronze body feathers will make good legs. Happy Tying

I’m trying to fit some beads on to barbed hooks and having no luck. How do you manage to get a beaded head on to barbed hooks? Thanks.

Pretty much the same. Just be sure to give yourself room at the front of the fly so you don't crowd the eye of the hook.

lead wire shouldnt have any effect on a good pair of scissors. Its too soft.
