Excellent video for beginners. When I started beading I bought quite a few cheap seed beads. My finished piece never looked like it did in the magazines. Until I discovered Japanese seed beads. Never bought cheap beads again. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and beautiful tutorials.

A family member was saying, "you could use larger beads & it would make it so much easier on you & so much faster. " She's right but I just can't get enough of the 15's. I made a rose themed bracelet recently & it literally looks like a strip of lace. You just can't get that effect with larger beads. Thanks for another informative video!

Hi Jill. THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! I do a lot of crochet with sequins and beads (Barbie gowns ironically), and recently fell into a windfall of seed beads. Your videos have been beyond helpful in letting me acquire a new skill set for my work. Without your excellent teaching style, clear instructions and explanations I would have been stuck with literally pounds (not grams) of beads and no clue what to do with them. Again Thank You so much, and keep up the great work. Eric.

Thank you so much for this tutorial. I have been buying most of my beads at either the local Dollar store or WalMart. Have recently started getting ones from Beadaholique and a Canadian company, as I live in Canada. I will definitely try the Japanese beads. I am brand new to the craft and am in my 60's. Keep up the good videos..

I wish I would have come across you an hour ago. I have been searching online and could NOT get a good chart to explain the difference in beads. I really appreciate this video and you for uploading it.

Kudos to you for loving those 15/0. I’m struggling with the 11/0. I wear glasses and use an ott-lite magnifier and still have trouble but refuse to give up my beading! Thanks for all the great tutorials.

I have been looking for 10/0 seed beads. The designs I like call for 10/0 seed beads but I can't find them. Where can I get them.

Thank you so much for this video. I was wondering which type of seed need has the most uniform size in it, and, now, I know - Japanese seed beads. I get tired of "sifting" through the seed beads I have to try and find the same sizes when I want to do a bead-weaving project. But, do you have a favorite "brand" of seed bead which you find have the most uniform in size, though? I appreciate your help. C.H.

I love watching your videos, you're an excellent teacher and I appreciate your sharing your expertise. I do, however, find it difficult to hear you on so many of your videos, this one included. So, if there is a way for you to amplify the sound (your voice) in your videos I'd really appreciate that. Thank you.

Jill, thanks again for a common sense vid. I'm doing my second beaded piece ever and guess what/ the shop I'm doing my classes at only sell those type of beads you said to avoid! I knew it! i said to my friend that their bead quality was awful. Oh well. I suppose I'm just practising at the moment and at least I'm learning technique.

I just purchased 45 containers of 2mm seed beads, what size is that they said a 12/0? I’m new and want to practice before I buy a bunch of “good” seed beads? Is this correct info? $25. I figured I can’t lose much and have a large variety of colors.

What is the difference between a 11/0 and 11 I've watched 3 videos and nothing mentions the difference?

There is no difference! 11/0 is just another way of saying size 11.

In europe its easier to find the 9/0s & 6/0s than anything else.. i have managed to find 11/0s or atleast I think they are 11/0s not sure.. I have found 15/0s in the craft store on request and what I bealive is 8/0s. There is a big difference in the 9/0s & the belived 11/0s.. its brands like Gűtermann, Panduro or Knorr Padel, german craft brands. Mostly use 9 or 11 bcs they sre the easiest to find.
