Growing up in the Bluegrass (Kentucky), many of the older folks grew all sorts of things in old tractor tires. My grandfather would take a few of we grandchildren along to help some elderly people get their tires ready. For the decorative tractors tires, he and the grandsons cut in a special way do the edges looked like petals. In those there were begonias, petunias and all sorts of pretty flowers. In others, potatoes, Irish and Russet and Yukon Golds, French radishes, carrots, oh, all sorts of vegetables. His father, my great grandfather told me old tires were used since the 1930s. And it is so restful and peaceful to listen to you talk. Such a beautiful work you are doing here.

When I read your book ‘ A Cottage and Three Acres” your basic tenet of “plant first for the bees and birds, then for yourself “ really resonated with me and in planting in my very small, urban garden that is what I have pursued. I have been rewarded with many bees and birds and am keeping fingers crossed for modest gains in the tiny cottage garden. Thanks for continued inspiration and all good wishes for the forthcoming Midsummer.

What with the grand solar minimum that we are in I have changed my gardening plans to accommodate the various weather patterns we are experiencing. You have been a great help just by watching your ingenuity and use of the things you have at hand. That has been such an encouragement to me. I love how you do not give up just because you don’t have the “correct” pot or place (ie all veggies then all flowers, etc). Plant on Colette!

Mr and Mrs Ratty Rattus have formally set up shop in my house. My cat seems to be getting along with them quite well, she is a very good Huntress outside on the farm but apparently if they're in the house she thinks that they're supposed to be there! I have many vegetable starts in the house right now and they have Taken 2 of my cauliflower and last night nibbled the new green tips on my Manzanita starts. They have also eaten the new leaves off of my oak tree. They have officially worn out their welcome! My cat still doesn't care. LOL

You dear 😃 Colette inspire me. I love every one of your videos. I made a beautiful double Xmas wreath with the help of your wee tutorial. I saved Pak Choy and Cosmos seeds and am keen to see if they germinate. The poppy and dahlia seeds have come up. Your "raw" videos are a blessing in them selves and they are so lovely to watch. There is too much editing in this world, too much insecurities and perhaps other things as well that lies behind the urge to edit and even remodel reality. All the best to you from a small cottage in the forest on an island in the Baltic

I planted some basil here in Cyprus and a few days later it had all been eaten. I often find that, and the insects eat it all and leave nothing for me. We get a lot of locusts and cricket type things that just eat everything. Its so disappointing. Its a battle through the summer heat and then after winter just as things start to grow green all the hungry insects arrive. 🥴🐛🐌 Blessings for a lovely evening.
