Whenever Burt talks about his drinking and how he feels, the questions he ponders on, the new habits he forms… it reminds me to the T of my last 5 years drinking… I’ve been sober 5 years now, and I gotta say that all those things he says he wants, the inner-peace, health benefits… you will get them in spades. And the fear of changing into someone else, well… yeah, you change a bit. But after one year sober you truly laugh at how you were so hung up on changing from the drunken embarrassment you used to be 🤣. The change sometimes isn’t bad at all but truly awesome. Not preaching here, just wanted to share that. I love to party… a lot. So much. But it doesn’t have to be part of who you are. For everyone else that continues to drink and party, go for it! It’s a personal choice and I have no problems with it.
@Henry-kv7zl Жыл бұрын
Congrats on your self awareness. It's an interesting thing as you were aware enough to stop but the booze made it feel insurmountable. And if you FEEL like you can't do something, you'll never do it. It becomes a self fulfilling prophecy. I'm not some mind over matter idiot, I understand addiction and human nature to some degree and it's obviously way more complex. But I think that fundamentally, it HAS to just be a CHOICE. Whether we actually have free will or not, we have enough of an illusion that we might as well act as if we do. Sometimes, one philosophy should just be that which gets you and your loved ones through life in the safest, and most positive manner.

Tom, I totally get your weight loss journey. I went from 330 pounds down to 195. Kept the weight off for 14 years now and at 36 I feel amazing man. My biggest motivator to never go backwards was my father. When I lost all the weight, I decided to get all new clothes to celebrate I could finally shop for clothes at normal stores with normal sizes. After I bought all new clothes, my dad said “what are you doing with your old clothes?” I said to him that I was donating them because they don’t fit any more. His reply was “well why don’t you keep some just in case?” And I said “just in case what? I’m never gaining this weight back again.” It had thoroughly pissed me off in a way that motivated me to keep prove him wrong. Knowing who he is, I know he didn’t mean it the way he said it, but rather than let that phrase take the wind out of my sails I used it for motivation. Keep up your good work man, I’m proud of your progress.

I love my Bert in a very small weekly dosis. I can't imagine how exhausting it would be to hang out with him irl just for one day.

Best episode in a long time with both bears. Bert is a completely different person when he isn’t drinking! Never related more with anything than Tim’s anecdote about having three things in his hands and now at his age putting something down so he doesn’t drop something trying to do it all 🤯

I love these guys as comics and podcasters. I could not give any less of a shit about where they like to vacation and what they like to do in their free time, and how we all should apply that to our lives too lol congrats fellas, but that's cool guy shit

Surfing is the best feeling. Better than a rollercoaster. Even when you are sitting their it’s so relaxing. Surfers are also the best guys to be around, just always so chill and happy never any drama.
