Beating Minecraft's Hardest Modpack With Nothing // Episode 2 - It Takes A Village(r)

In this second episode of the series, I evolve my island from a dirt blob to an even bigger dirt blob, touch grass, get wood, and spend three and a half hours punching monsters in the ankles for rare drops.
GT - New Horizons is an intricately designed and custom-coded kitchen-sink style modpack built on the 1.7.10 version of Minecraft. It integrates hundreds of Minecraft's flagship mods into a Gregtech framework - completely overhauling the mods' traditional progression in the process, and radically rebalances any of the technologies those mods may offer.
Because doing things the normal way is 'too easy', I am following a ruleset based off of the (in)famous Garden Of Grind ruleset that places me in a completely empty superflat dimension. Every single resource I need, including blocks to stand on, has to be created out of nothing by finding clever workarounds and weird mechanics. Unlike in Garden Of Grind, I am not restricted to only my starting dimension - it's just that every other dimension starts out just as empty as my first one.
This pack is available on both the Curseforge and Technic launchers. You can also get the pack directly from the development GitHub.

For the weed (as in, "Mary-J", not the game weed) study you linked, I did take a look at it, and it seems like it: 1) negatively impacts humans on a molecular level when the parent smokes it right before becoming/while pregnant- which makes sense; one of the big things about pregnancy is how drug/alcohol use can impact the baby and even their future babies. 2) more research has to be done on how long certain "molecular mutations" (since there's multiple with varying levels of positive/negative impact in the first place) even last after someone stops using weed, especially due to all the different cannabinoids within cannabis. It's mainly, as another commenter stated, laying out some more foundation for future research and studies. Most of the studies included in it were done for animals as well rather than humans. I don’t think the bit in the video was good to include for these reasons, especially with the bold claim… It might hold up in the future, but right now there’s not enough studies for the average person who smokes weed- non pregnant teens/adults.

Barnarda C wood is technically obtainable in a no space playthrough but not a full skyblock: the Barnarda C bee will turn Twilight Forest Tree of Transformation saplings into Barnarda C saplings through its Treetwister effect, and can be bred using the mutatron. However, in a skyblock, the Tree of Transformation saplings are not obtainable, so this is no help. The treetwister effect was specifically added to make Barnarda C wood obtainable though, and there was discussion of adding a forestry tree breeding route to get Tree of Transformation saplings. That hasn't been implemented, but if skyblock players actually get to that point in the game it definitely will be!

Oh wow. The grass segment where you explain that seeds are obtained by tilling the soil was such a throwback- I'm not sure if that mechanic originated from Java, but in the earliest versions of Bedrock I played (on mobile Pocket Edition like, 10ish years ago) that was just how you obtained seeds. The only ore in my world was coal, and the only trees were oak and maybe birch. Before villages, beetroot seeds and wheat seeds came from the soil. Carrots and potatoes came from zombies, and sugarcane was a luxury my world didn't have, so I couldn't make pumpkin pie. And there were soooo many sheep.

A 2019 meta-analysis found that 34% of people with cannabis-induced psychosis transitioned to schizophrenia. This was found to be comparatively higher than hallucinogens (26%) and amphetamines (22%). A February 2019 systematic review and meta-analysis found that cannabis consumption during adolescence was associated with an increased risk of developing depression and suicidal behavior later in life. In the United States, 10-20% of those who begin the use of cannabis daily will later become dependent. Cannabis intoxication was not only found to affect attention, psychomotor task ability, and short-term memory. It was also found that intoxicated users were facing the difficulty of having false memories. Male cannabis use has been associated with reduced fertility and decreased sperm counts. Initial epigenetic studies have shown that male cannabis use causes widespread DNA methylation changes in sperm, resulting in lower rates of fertilization and higher rates of miscarriage. Sperm DNA methylation alterations from cannabis extract exposure are evident in the offspring of rats.

That thc article was interesting thank you Neurotic Goose for linking it! Long story short for those who want to know more but are too lazy to get the link: thc is very similar to the chemical that cells use in genetic creation and editing (yes your body is editing your genes constantly too much to explain) and the specific genes targeted by the “cannabinoid” chemical (both thc and the body chemical have cannabinoid in the name) is the genes for brain and organ development! So smoke enough and your kids will have issues in brain and organ development, or maybe it’ll cure your genetic adhd or depression for your offspring and that’s cool bc the effect is unpredictable bc we don’t really know enough about how genes work, but any restructuring of a genome can cause absolutely 0 changes, or completely change the original effect. Like changing the input in a computer from a 0 to a 1 will make the code completely different, do nothing, or cause an error that the computer (your body) detects as bad and destroys the mutated cell. I don’t know if this means it can cause cancer but “literally” everything causes cancer so I wouldn’t be surprised.

@zekerdeath Why are you so defensive of weed? The person in the video made his claim that he doesnt like weed, but you can't fault the article for your lack of reading skills. It says that it changes the epigenome of the subjects and details on what changes happened and the markers that are significant. At most, it claims that those subject markers are good leads for multigenerational research on cannabis and other experiments. Other than that, they did not claim anything that wasn't already present in existing research. The article was peer reviewed and published in a scientific journal and used 78 sources that you can check at the bottom of the webpage (You obviously didn't. The infertility study was done on 221 women who did IVF. Not rats. See source 77) Its just modifications. Thats it. Weed changes you on a molecular level. Why deny the science when its right in front of you?

ehhh I feel like your one-sentence summary of the paper on cannabis you linked was a little misleading. epigenetic changes are not mutations (of the DNA), they're just changing how/the frequency at which our genes are expressed. Also, little was done to see what these epigenetic changes actually did, like, consequences-wise? Proving a change in gene expression doesn't mean much. Tons of things change your epigenetic markers. More research needs to be done to prove that the changes are detrimental/positive/inconsequential. Considering it was published in 2017, there's a good chance there's more recent research available at this point, though I'm far too burned out to look for it myself. Thank you for the recommendation though it was a pretty nice read. Most papers aren't written, style wise, that comprehensively. It was nice to see a paper that didn't feel the need to use big, overcomplicated jargon to get to it's point. not sure I agree with the findings since they pulled on so many papers that I simply don't have the time to check the methodology of, but an interesting read that piqued my curiosity for sure

I believe the reason they changed the seed drop mechanic was so that it would be less inventory clogging and less annoying to clear fields/areas with lots of grass.
