The bulk of abortion patients are in their 20s. Women of all races and ethnicities choose abortion. In 2014, 39 percent of abortion patients were white, 28 percent were black and 25 percent were Latina. Similarly, women of all religious affiliations choose to end their pregnancies. Most of these women understand what it means to parent a child. More than half of abortion patients in 2014 were already mothers. Poor women account for the majority of abortion patients. Fifty-three percent of women pay out-of-pocket for their abortion. The rest use private or state-funded insurance plans. Women choose abortion for multiple reasons. The most common reason cited is that pregnancy would interfere with education, work or ability to care of dependents. Financial stress also plays a major role in women’s decision making. Seventy-three percent of women reported that they could not afford a baby at the time. Nearly half cited relationship difficulties or wanting to avoid single motherhood. More than a third of women felt their families were complete.

Was sexually assaulted in elementary school by a teacher 5.) Was brutally bullied by the other students throughout the rest of school 6.) Had cancer from 14-16 years old 7.) Married at 19 to an incredibly abusive man who moved me to another country and trafficked me into sex work 8.) Escaped and came to U.S., lived with a man who also raped and abused me 9.) Had several untreated chronic illnesses that became more severe due to neglect 10.) Finally met a good man who lifted me up, took good care of me, helped me to get medical care, married me, and I now have two beautiful children and am completing a PhD. We have been together for almost 10 years now! I don't think I'm better off dead, actually, and I think my beautiful kids are treasures that make the world even better. Without me, there's no them. The pro-choice arguments have no interest in the subjective or the fictional. The arguments are firmly grounded in science and compassion. The science is recognizing that a first trimester human is, in fact, a nascent, non-sentient, non-viable organism existing, entirely dependent, within a woman's body. Compassion compels us to want the apogee of well-being for every woman, today and tomorrow. Compassion demands that we respect every woman's right to own her body and decide her destiny.

Poverty, hard times, finances, convienance, or just a simple desire to kill, have never been actual justifications to kill, ever. Just because I want to kill is not a justification to actually kill someone, anyone, even criminals, let alone innocent little boys and girls. We can only use lethal force, and just the force necessary to stop the iminent and unavoidable danger of death or grave bodily harm. We can't just execute someone simply because we want them dead. When u remove the excuse to avoid responsibility, there r no more excuses for abortion. That alone is quite telling. It lets us know that these r all just excuses to avoid responsibility and behave wrecklessly, all at the cost of an innocent boy or girl's life.

So what Durbin says is basically All Life is to be preserved no matter the form (foetuses are babies therefore abortion is equivalent to killing an infant). There is an exception to this rule (which already contradicts his rule of „all murder is immoral“), if a human has commited an evil act, it is ok to kill him. comminting an act (such as rape) qualifies a human to be in a different „category“ of human. In a situation where the child is threatening the life of the mother if she doesn‘t abort he has to chose which life to save (because deciding not to abort is equal to chosing to kill the mother) If you follow this, then logically it follows that you cannot defend yourself with deadly force (since that is murdering a human, it doesn‘t matter the situation). Therefore he either breakd his logic OR must value the life of a woman less than that of an (in his word) unborn child. If he goes this route, he is actually using the same argument as pro-choice proponents, which is: „murder“/ending a human life is ok in circumstances where it serves a greater good e.g: when a foetus endangers the mothers life when rapists deserve desth penalty when you defend yourself with deadly force etc. To sum up there are two problems here: he is inconsistant with the maxim of „no human life is to be murdered“ he seems to value a female life less than that, which i think most people disagree with. Basically what durbin gets wrong is that he claims a (deontological) maxime of „in any possible realm, there shall not be a case of murdering a human life“ because murder is inherently immoral (based on his that‘s pretty Kantian and had one problem: the maxim cannot be broken, so it doesn‘t matter e.g. the „value“ of a human life since all humans shall not be murdered. The way that Jeff connects with people before stating his views is something we all can learn to do better. He has mastered it, and I want to be just like that.
@kaitlynrains56063 жыл бұрын
I would disagree. I have watched many of his videos and on most subjects Jeff cannot truly take on another person's perspective, he just states his understanding of there perspective without changing when they correct him. He assumes they just don't realize there point of view is the way he understands it and tells them that, which is considered gaslighting. Gaslighting is a form of manipulation. All that said, I think he does a lot less of that in this video and when he does do it I am sure he does not realize it is manipulative. But that doesn't change the fact that it is.
@sivad10253 жыл бұрын
@@kaitlynrains5606 That's not true. He uses analogies to stretch their views to broader applications. When people "correct" him, they're usually avoiding his broader point.
@researchbothsidesequally44813 жыл бұрын
@@kaitlynrains5606 If your perception of reality is distorted and twisted, someone trying to show you a new way of looking at reality is not gaslighting, it is simply someone trying to help you understand something that you are struggling with. When you use the term gaslighting in this context, it degrades the term. Gaslighting is when someone tries to convince you that you are crazy, and is used to manipulate and control, not when there is a difference on world view and you are trying to convince someone to see things differently. How are we supposed to have healthy debates when people are so afraid of being Gaslit? Are you sure that you want debate, and not just push your way through? Kind of sounds like you are trying to gaslight by not letting other opinions be expressed and heard, and saying they are the ones gaslighting. 🤔

Regardless of income, you could make 6 figures a year, my state provides early intervention that sends a licensed therapist to my home to provide services. When he would be preschool aged he would have free access to an early intervention preschool with both disabled and regularly developing students. Then when those kids are school aged, there at programs for them within the school system. We decided to go a different route through a therapy center that was funded my local churches just due to personal preference and at 25 months his eating disorder is under control and he is eating normally, but we were offered free services. @@Xarai always remember to give context before citing verses lol. Bible verses without context don't help
@josephmarr16645 жыл бұрын
@@Xarai It has been a while since I've dug deep into this book of Scripture, but I'd highly suggest reading much more than that verse. A verse outside of its context can easily lead people into the wrong direction, and it's a way that people try to make the Scriptures say what one wants it to say, instead of allowing the texts to speak for themselves. But if I recall correctly, this area of the book is in regards to a public legal dispute. And so I believe what you're reading about is a prophet explaining to these people that judgment is inevitably coming upon these people who are engaging in cult-like activities during these festivals. In fact, I believe the part you're referencing is specifically in regards to what the prophet is asking for God to do (as judgment) since these people are engaging in idolatry. It's not saying that God wants people to murder their babies (or as some call it, engage in having an abortion). In fact, God says the opposite. He gives a commandment for people not to murder. However, in this passage, it's simply a prophet addressing the idolatrous crowd and asking God to bring judgment upon them. And God bringing judgment is also quite different from people deciding on their own to take lives. On another note, although I'm way too tired tonight to even look into what you're referencing in Numbers, simply seeing an act occur in the bible does not constitute God giving consent for people to engage in such acts. Cain kills Abel, but that doesn't mean it's fine for people to kill their brother. We also read about Judas Iscrariot hanging himself, but that's not saying people should go out and do that. In fact, Christ said that it would've been better for him to have never been born.

Paul Elliott their bull? They seemed to be quite compassionate and sincere and humble, listening, and being respectful ...sometimes people are sincerely and humbly wrong and that should be the easiest type of people to be patient with if you are truly a Christian and not angry, arrogant or insecure or all three.

I give praise to how brother Jeff can remain calm in such conversational situations. My blood boils and heart breaks just watching some of these videos when i think about the 60 million babies every year. Keep up the good work Apologia, May the Lord Jesus Christ bless you all.

Do we have 60 million spots to fill for adoption and enough money to support all these women while they carry to term? Possibly putting the rest of their lives in jeopardy?

A great respectful dialog. Jeff was very gracious, and all credit to the three ladies, although they disagreed, they were very respectful and carried on with a lot of class.

In watching this video, one thing is so clear to me and until now I've never seen it on this angle. I believe the real issue so many women (like these 3) believe (initially before total facts and common sense kicks in) in abortion is primarily it comes from a form of feminism and equated to "women power" and not logical facts based on biology and from the clear fact it's murder.

17:45 Jeff calls out the arbitrary standard of "if you haven't breathed yet, you don't deserve to live." I might have approached it with "Isn't it malicious and wrong if I stop the person from taking their first breath." That sounds better to me.
