Ive owned Lexus before and my 2012 RX 350 that I bought brand new was in the shop at 20,000 km getting new rear wheel bearings, also the automatic windshield wipers would come on during a sunny day and you could not shut them off unless you pulled over and parked and then started the car again, also my rear tailgate had to be replaced because of rust after it was 2 years old... I have owned 15 toyotas including pickups, supras, celicas, one tercel way way back, so Im well versed with the brand, I had back luck with my RX but doesnt mean they are all like that. My 2018 SL63 has been great, and I have put 15k on it this summer... no issues except for the rear continentals that I melted off at 12k : ) but that was just fun !!

Hint the newer the model the MORE not less it’s supposed to sell yet again everything else in the class outsold the LC. Why?? Hint people buy cars they like. When you don’t like a car you don’t buy it. BMW M850 sales were so good that the M8 was hurried to production while the LCF has been canceled because of terrible sales.

Lexus LC500. While the Benz does look cool the Lexus looks like a spaceship.. like nothing else on the road. Where the Benz has a more traditional design. I also think the Lexus engine sounds better also it doesn’t need a exhaust open button lol. Nice to see you couldn’t pick between the two. They are both damn great cars. Lexus, cause it's from Toyota and it's got an impeccable reliability record. Statisically speaking, the AMG will have issues of quality control and reliablity, as do most Mercedes Benz Products. You'll more than likely spend more time driving a loaner car from Benz and will become accustomed to the phrase, " I have an AMG, but It's in the dealers for repairs". We want to drive the cars, not have them break down every few weeks, especially not when it's 6 figures.

Because when you pay that much money, the damn car better start and perform as advertised, promised and paid for. A 6 figure sticker window should get us a car that will run reliably with well though out design. Don't take my word for it. Look at the depreciation value on a Mercedes vs Lexus. 20 year old Toyota Landcruises and Lexus from 90's with the v8 are still running and some even have their motors put into other vehicles made to run another few hundred 100k.

It's going to be desiarable on the used market when everyone has 1.0l turbo supercharged hybrids. Doesnt mean itll be worth its msrp, but itll be more valuable than a similar msrp merc. For 100k most buyers will go for a Porsche or a Merc or BMW or anything more prestigious. KIA made the K900 and its glorious but no one wanted a baby S Class in Kia badging. Check me in 8 years. Owned SC430. With 4.3LNA, the engine feeling was wonderfully light and it was possible to interact with the engine. The feeling was in common with the 1993 V12 SL 6.0LNA. LC 5.0LNA is the evolution system. Mercedes downsizing with turbo is effective but lacks sophistication. The LC500 is a true sports GT with a perfect design and a distinction from high-power downsizing.

You know that Lexus "MADE IN JAPAN" that are sold in Japan is more expensive than ones in the U.S. (they are also made in Japan). LC500 is starting from $150k in Japan. This is most likely because to compete price of German cars in Japan to keep the image of luxury brand, and not just an alternative.

As someone who has owned a Lexus SC430 and owns an AMG SLS, I gotta give credit where credit is due. Lexus has upped their game with this LC. They need to make a LC-F model with a tighter geared sportier transmission, V8 with the hybrid system and better tech. When this hits the used car market in 3 years, it is going to be a SWEET car to get. That AMG though! Any car that can make a grown man giggle like a 6th grade school girl is AWESOME! Nice review.

From experience, they will give you a courtesy vehicle, which will be the latest model with all the options ticked, then put high pressure sales tactics on you to try and get you to trade up, because the inconvenience of having to bring your car in for repairs isn't enough without some irritating salesman in your face to compound it further.

I have a red lc500 and parked next to an amg gt one time. I must say the gt looks alot wider than in pics. Having owned several amgs I know these cars are fast and loud. But handling were never their strong points. The AMG gt is a fun weekend cruiser but are not reliable if you plan on driving it on a daily basis. The lc500 on the other hand is the perfect daily driver. Looks wise the lc500 is much more stylish and interesting. But you can't go wrong with either cars.

Revving the LC cold in the video (not fully warmed up) proves that the adjustable red line is not just a suggestion, as you can see it won't let the revs above 6k rpm vs 7.3k when fully warmed. The lowest I've seen on a cold garage start is 3.5k rpm, but it quickly goes to 5k rpm.

I was recently in the market to buy a car and, no joke, the gla amg I was test driving had the 'check engine' light go off. Then I test drove a Lexus NX and preferred everything about it. Wasn't a lexus fan before but instantly became one after. I bought the Lexus. Between these two cars in this video I'd go for the Lexus. Looks better inside and out.

I've had friends and family buy BMWs Mercedes and many other Luxury cars and they have ALL had engine issues within the first few months. My father has owned a Lexus and i have owned a Toyota And my car has been reliable for 10+ years and he's had 2 different Lexus cars that NEVER had any issues one is an 07' and the other is a 13' and all the people i have mentioned take care of their vehicles bringing them in for all required services when needed. And also i love the cars BMW and Mercedes + all the other cars these manufactures make but saying they're more reliable then a Lexus or Toyota is just a dumb statement.

If your neighborhood streets are an exact replica of a le mans track, and you have the ability to pilot a race car at the edge of the performance limits, and you can afford your own service crew to rebuild the engines every weekend, then obviously, the MB is the better choice for you. I have a lexus ES 350 and it has run so good that I just go in for oil changes and tire rotations every 5 months. That's it. Oh, don't forget to fill up the gas tank. :)

You do understand that you would have a warranty when buying this car right? It’s not that common for Mercedes to break down as much as people think. On top of that, Mercedes gives you free maintenance services when buying the car, not Lexus, and when you bring your Mercedes in for service, they’ll always give you a badass ride to use while your car is getting serviced. No brained to me. Mercedes all day!

Thomas Ferrugia it depends what Mercedes you drive and how you drive it. Mercedes as a whole is very costly to maintain, which is why many people steer away from them. I have one myself and it's great. I have not spent a dollar on it besides oil changes. Then again, a friend of mine has the same car and had to replace 5 parts in 2 months and know has engine rod knock. Keep in mind, we drive the same car, same year and even similar mileage.

My dads Lexus is 300 is still gong strong with 230k miles and little maintence but oil changes one time belt change and other small maintence changes over time. Thing is a solid car Lexus is a god brand.

Speaking from the year 2024 here referring back to the 2018 Lexus LC500, the LC500 is a great car, but its designers and engineers have grossly failed to keep up with the evolving GT level technology. The new Mercedes AMG Gt55 TT V8 costs 1/3 more than the Lexus LC500, bit it offers: a handcrafted and assembled V* TT AMG engine that is super responsive from a dead start without any red-line rpm lag; all wheel automatic steering offering superior handling; 4-wheel auto adjusting suspensive for dynamic ride and handling; superior interior lambient lighting and electronics; at least double the trunk and storage space, etc. Oh, noe more thing. Lexus informs me that for the LC 500, there is no customer ordering on this model; Lexus dealers can place a 'request sheet order' but there is not guarantee that your particular dealer will get the precise LC500 inside and out that you desire! LC500 models are delivered to the USA at approx 1,500 units per month, so you get what the Lexus LC 500 production line delivers and hope for the best! The most important question of all is RELIABILITY. Which car will least likely leave you stranded by the side of the road? If you have to think about the answer to that question for more than one second, you're not a car guy. German cars break all the time. They use cheap, sub-standard electrical components designed to fail. When they do, you're looking at a huge repair bill. Lexus, on the other hand, is super reliable. Sure, it "might" fail but which car will get you across America without any problems? Then, there's the styling. No question about that one! Lexus all the way and it's not even close! But, if you're one of those people who likes to tell your friends "I drive a Benz", and you actually think they are impressed, then the Mercedes is for you. Nobody will look twice because the car is ugly. This is the easiest choice in automotive history for smart people. We call it "a no brainer".
