What happens in the salon... For beauty school students, cosmetologists, salon professionals, hairdressers, hairstylist; learn how to start you cosmetology, barber, skin care and manicuring careers. What it takes to get a job, advertise for clients, keep your clients, get along with your coworkers in the salon, get the fellow hairdressers share their knowledge with you, break into the beauty and fashion industry, go to classes, get continuous education, be professional; what do beginner hairdressers, manicurists, nail technicians and skin care therapists do to start working and making money after they graduated beauty school and got their license. Make a decision; to rent or to assist? Which one first; assisting or renting? Learn how to assist someone who will actually teach you instead of sending you to do errands. Do you need to dress for success: presentation matters. You need to be ethical and be cordial to your coworkers; you need them, even if you don't like some of them. Know that your attitude is as important as your hairdressing skills. Listen to your clients. Surround your self with successful hairdressers to learn from them and stay motivated. Aim high. Are shampooing skills that important? What would make you lose a client: a bad wash. Clients could leave you if you don't do a good shampoo; even if you did fabulous on their haircolor. Hey, how are you, Marilyn Really nice genuine tips. I am a junior at a salon, I am having trouble washing hair. I have tried practicing on family and staff also watching videos online but still haven't got to grips with the technique. I am also a go getter like you. Could you give me some pointers on how I could improve, its quite bad, to the point staff are asking not to do clients hair washes. Please help I really want to be a hairstylist. Thank you so much!

In reality, the more you practice, the better you would become a good shampoo person. I will recommend to ask someone from your salon or another salon to teach you their shampoo technique. If you do not want to ask anyone from your salon, ask or pay another hairdresser from a different salon to show you how. Videos are great to help, but we don't know how you work to show you, but someone who can see exactly what you need in person, can really help you. I hope you get better in shampooing. I can feel how enthusiastic you are to be a hairdresser and it is the most important thing in the business. Good luck!
