I have gone ahead purchased my second bottle of Paulas Choice 20% Niacinamide because I can see my acne scars, dark spots going away and my skin starting to clear away. It’s been such a tough journey with lots of tears. I am very blessed to have found this KZbin channel 🙏🏽 I am still using QV wash, Qv lotion & no toner I am just not ready to introduce anything else yet as I can see improvements. The BHA is actually the chemical structure of the said acid. Hydroxy acids have a carboxylic acid group (the -COOH part of the molecule) and an hydroxyl group (the -OH part). if the hydroxyl is one carbon after the -COOH, you have an AHA (the first carbon after the -COOH is called the alpha). If the hydroxyl group is two carbons after the -COOH, is is on the beta carbon... so you get a BHA ! Thank you for your nice videos and your communicative energy !

I have Light skin and I have discoloration from previous breakouts(my main concern), this serum has already lightened and calmed the redness of scars/pigmentation. Also I don’t have textured scars just discoloration. If this helps I’m also a combo skin but I lean more towards oily skin.

Could you do a video on whiteheads, I’ve been using salicylic acid for 3 months and it did nothing, I’m about to buy benzoyl peroxide, but a video would be really helpful thanks
@SakuraPinkPeach4 жыл бұрын
Hi. AHAs are better for whiteheads and BHAs (salicylic acid) are better for blackheads. In very layman terms it's because blackheads (open comedones) are caused by sebum and dead skin cells forming a tight clog in the pore, which BHA can penetrate and break down. Whiteheads (closed comedones) are pores filled with sebum and dead skin cells that is trapped under a thin layer of skin, which AHAs can help buffer away, allowing the sebum to flow out, unclogging the pore. Benzoyl peroxide is helpful with inflammatory acne, like pimples, because it kills the P. Acnes bacteria. Whiteheads and blackheads are not considered inflammatory acne (although the former can develop into it) because they're simply clogged pores. Therefore, benzoyl peroxide would not help with whiteheads, and could even dry out the skin and make it worse.
@ayad38344 жыл бұрын
A. White thats interesting, I’ve been doing so much research Rn and a lot of research says tbag benzyol peroxide helps unclog pores, and bha is oil soluble so it gets deeper into the skin and pushes trap sebum and dirt to the surface, I’m so lost on what to do, I was thinking about steaming my face, applying a clay mask and using bha after that 2 times a week and on the other day’s I’d use benzyol peroxide,
@SakuraPinkPeach4 жыл бұрын
@@ayad3834 Benzoyl Peroxide does unclog pores, but the main reason why it's effective is because it kills acne causing bacteria. BP is a very potent ingredient, and ideally should be reserved for more severe types of acne, especially considering the fact that gentler ingredients can help resolve whiteheads.While AHAs, BHAs, and BP all unclog pores it is important to consider what is causing the clogged pore to begin with, and then using the best suited ingredient to resolve the specific concern. Steaming, clay masks, and BHAs are all great for blackheads (which I used to suffer the most from) but are not the best treatment for whiteheads, which simply need the top layer of skin removed so that the sebum and dead skin cells can flow out.
@ayad38344 жыл бұрын
A. White ahhhh okay okay btw I really appreciate your help, so do you reckon I should use aha instead of bha?, and if so should I get the costx whitehead liquid
@SakuraPinkPeach4 жыл бұрын
@@ayad3834 No worries! Considering you're dealing with whiteheads, you should use an AHA instead. My personal favourite is KraveBeauty's Kale-lalu-yAHA, but the COSRX whitehead power liquid is good too (I just don't like the smell). Remember to start slow, and be patient with exfoliating acids! 💗 And always use them after cleansing, on dry skin. Even a bit of dampness can disrupt the PH balance of the exfoliating acids, reducing its efficacy.

A beta hydroxy acid or β-hydroxy acid is an organic compound that contains a carboxylic acid functional group and hydroxy functional group separated by two carbon atoms. They are closely related to alpha hydroxy acids, in which the two functional groups are separated by one carbon atom.

do you use it all over your face, like a thin layer of cream, or mix it with your moisturiser maybe? Ive just been using it like a spot treatment for active acne and to try and help with fading the dark mark after but not really enjoying it like that.

Dynamite Dynamite i havent notice a big difference with hyperpigmentation so I started to use tranexamic acid recently (hopefully that works!). I have texture mainly and it’s helped a lot with that. The kind of texture I have is like that skin coloured bumps, you can’t see it from afar but when you put makeup on or touch your face, you can see it. I’ve been using it for about 4-5 months now. Hi, I hope you don't mind me answering. When you tolerate retinol well (no peeling, no irritation) you can start using vit C in the morning. Niacinamide can be safely used with any active ingredient (again, as long as you tolerate them when used separately). You can use niacinamide before retinol, at night, or in the morning with vit C.

I don’t know if I’m using the active ingredients the right way. I have combo skin and scarring from hormonal acne along my jawline. I use cerave acne wash as my cleanser, Paulas choice toner, the ordinary retinoid serum, the ordinary niacinamide serum, and a moisturizer all at nighttime. I also sometimes use the ordinary azelaic acid and alpha arbutin. Is that way too many active ingredients?
@samiha34594 жыл бұрын
If you are talking about pc 2% BHA toner, then you shouldn't use a retinoid serum after it ; rather use something calming and soothing. You can alternate between the BHA and retinoid but not together. It's going to destroy your skin barrier and cause sensitivity and irritation.

It depends on each product and it depends on your skin and what it needs. Really, once you get how everything works you can know understand how your skin is each routine and decide what it needs. For example I don't always use a toner, especially in the morning. Plus, you shouldn't use ALL these products in one routine. One serum + moisturizer during the day, 2 serums + moisturizer at night. Given you double cleanse at night and only rinse with water in the morning, plus toning and treatment products. That's the most you ever need.
