I hope a lot of people understand with this video that a lot of influencers are pushing all of this misinformation out there. It’s refreshing to see someone debunk all of these myths and tell people what they actually need for their hair. Love this channel since the start of it all❤

This was a great chat. The only place I disagreed was on silicones. Silicones are great for making damaged hair look healthier and protecting the hair against heat styling. And most silicones are a lot more water soluble and able to removed easily with regular, even sulfate free shampoo now. If not, you just need to clarify more.

Would looove to see more videos like this! Skincare and hair care have been blowing up online so much that people hear one thing and fail to double check out of blind trust and excitement over trying a new product, but it’s always important to have sources to back things up before trying new things

Why was it so refreshing to see a pregnant woman who doesn’t make pregnancy their whole identity….perform so naturally when talking about hair health?! Such a unique visual to trigger appreciation. It felt somewhat empowering. Idk what I’m saying. Just in awe.

When it comes to black hair types with extremely curly and kinky hair, we don't wash our hair on the same basis as people with straighter hair and our hair practices are different. We still produce oil, but we don't get greasy flat hair a few days after washing, our hair volumises as days go on. Our hair grows up and out instead of down, so the oils don't travel down the shaft and attract dirt and look greasy etc.. we need to add oils to our hair because of the aforementioned reason. Would you say our hair care practices are a myth?

I wash my hair everyday with paraben and sulfate free shampoo (baby shampoo actually) paired with a normal conditioner, because I have sweaty and oily scalp. Living in a humid country. Andddd I also blow dry my hair after every shower with a heat protectant. And an oil after. Is that unhealthy?
@Lumilifee4 ай бұрын
I’m not a professional but I would recommend to only blow dry the roots and not the mids and ends:)
@actandacre15984 ай бұрын
It's totally okay to wash your hair daily, especially if you sweat or experience excess oil. In fact, daily washing is great for scalp health! If you do need to blow dry daily, Helen recommends drying the roots and letting the mid lengths to ends air dry. If air drying isn't an option definitely continue using a heat protectant and incorporate a hydrating mask in to hydrate and strengthen the ends. 🤍

Bit confused there. Not washing your hair doesn’t change rate of oil production but if your scalp is dry it produces more oil? Referring to 5:03. This is why I’m hesitant to trust even the “experts” in that business. Can we all just agree that only hormones and your own biology dictates the rate of oil production? Not to mention 6:13 plug of yet another product that “regulates” or “balances” oil production…. I get soaking it up… but c’mon.
@actandacre15984 ай бұрын
Genetics and hormones can certainly impact oil production, but so do other factors like diet and climate. If your scalp is dry, it can trigger the production of more oil. This happens because your scalp tries to compensate for the lack of moisture by overproducing sebum (oil). If you have an oily scalp due to genetics, an imbalance of hormones, etc. washing less often likely won't lead to a decrease in oil production. We recommend tailoring your products and wash frequency to your specific lifestyle and scalp and hair needs. 🤍

Misinformation about silicone!!!! Sulfates remove silicones, no issues there. My shampoos don’t contain silicone but my conditioners do. she is a product owner who spreads the misinformation suitable to sell her products.

You will get the best result when combining hair and scalp care with nutrition and life style/stress. Grey hair is nutrition wise a copper deficiency which may have different root causes. She is right about silicons but that is not the only problem for regular shampoo and conditioner. Parabens, endotoxins and sulfates which exists in the most common hygiene and care products. Usually shampoo contains sulfates and conditioners have silicons which in practicality, the sulfates removes the old silicon build up only to use a conditioner with silicons to build it up again. That's problematic. It's like creating a problem and the solution for it, which is totally unneccesary. Being a curly haired girl, I use natural "clean" products not only for my hair but for every area of my body and my home. Dealing with endometriosis, high inflammation and high insulin because our world is filled with processed and synthetic stuff. I also have a genmutation and I truly need to eat clean and "wash clean" in order to reverse my symtoms and feel a little better.
