You guys are saying the quiet part out loud. Beck continually got better. He was better the day he died than he was in the 1960's or even 10 years ago. He was a human synthesizer. The one on the stage to watch is Derek Trucks. Trucks is a child prodigy. I saw him play when he was 13 years old. His style and technique is very similar to Beck. IMO

I well remember Jeff Beck playing this at Salisbury City Hall in 1967. Rod Stewart played the rhythm guitar on a Danelectro 12-string sitting cross-legged on the stage: bass by Ronnie Wood and drums by Mickey Waller. People have forgotten just how exquisitely brilliant this band was: Rod was a good guitarist, an excellent harmonica player and an outstanding singer: Ronnie was always the perfect bass player and Mick was probably the finest rock/blues drummer out there. Led Zep were always amazing, but the Jeff Beck Group were there long before. But it’s not about who came first: the late sixties was the most important and extraordinary flowering of irreplaceable musicians. Let’s celebrate those few who are still out there.😁🎸🎸🎸🎷🎷😍🥁😳

That's amazing Never saw Rod with a guitar
@theesbband Жыл бұрын
@@geosaint1946 I know: it’s not much known. In fact I saw Rod play guitar on a number of occasions including the Marquee in Wardour Street. I’ve seen so many comments that he’s “just a singer” but he wrote countless classic songs, mostly on guitar. How little these armchair critics know of his early life on the road and musical expertise. A real musician in spades! 😁

Derek Trucks shows another side of his multi-faceted abilities. This is a fantastic example of Derek playing something I've never heard him play before and you immediately recognize it and at the same time know it's him. And you got to love him giving a head that it's Eric Clapton's turn to play some riffs! There's not many musicians that what have the mutual respect to be onstage with Eric Clapton and let him know it was his turn to play. WOW

It was a really respectful concert and I would have been mortified if there had been no tribute concert for Jeff. We saw footage of Jeff on the screen behind at times. Its not about who is the best. Music and guitarists shouldnt be compartmentalised, with labels etc. These guys for sure got together and firstly loved Jeff and all of them shared his passion for music and had so much fun over the years playing beautifully for the public. Thats why most play and enjoy a good jam together in some cases for a sing song after a good night in the pub. I was lucky enough to see jeff on his there and back tour at Hammy Odeon in 1981 i think and Prince amongst others. I believe the great guitarists can play any style and improvise without thinking and Jeff was so uniquely talented that way.
