My Endocrinologist put me on it too, but specified 25 carbs per meal. I lost 35 lbs quickly, most from my stomach. Now 50 lbs later I am ready to make it a permanent lifestyle change too. And feel better/have more energy than ever in my life, that's 58 years. Awesome!

Doing this exact basic diet now. Quit all grains and sugar immediately, wasn't hard at all when eating enough protein and fat. Don't think I need to go full on keto, eating like you have described here feels really good to me, except I avoid dairy except a sprinkle of fresh grated parmesan on some things. I was getting WICKED hot flashes; quitting all refined sugar and grains (wheat, oats, rice, corn) eliminated them immediately. I can eat quinoa I've discovered. I was an ethical vegan on and off for 30+ years. It was hard to admit that it was failing me. I've made peace with it. I'm so grateful I figured this out. Oh, I'm also sleeping a lot better, intense intestinal bloating is gone and weight is finally coming off at almost 57!

I wouldn't be to harsh on bread. The recommendation is not a daily recommendation its...4 slices per week. That means you can have 1/2 slice of bread and still be ok. What do you think? In general, bread is used to combat anemia and atherosclerosis from the fat we eat daily etc. It's also used to create rhoughage like most fillers, pasta, bread, soda crackers etc. Bread like potatos is also a pre-workout. What are you opinions on natural pre-workouts?
@jacquelinevanfossan70073 жыл бұрын
That's what I've been doing and I've lost 13 pounds. More important, I lowered my A1C. I am back into the pre-diabetic range. I'm working on losing the last 5 lbs and hope to lower my A1C back into the normal range. I'm never hungry.

@jacquelinevanfossan70073 жыл бұрын
@@subbannar7319 I am 72. I have been 15 or so pounds overweight since my 20's. I have always eaten in a fairly healthy way, almost never junk food or drinks. My A1C went up to 6.8 in a year. My doctor wanted me to take meds but I chose first to change my diet. I now eat between 60 and 75 carbs a day. I do walk a minimum of 3 miles each day but I have done that for decades. Working to lose another 5 but not more than that.

thank you for clarifying the difference between Low-carb and Keto. We began a low-carb on Monday and are continuing all vegetables but starches, cut out flour and are leaving out beans, lentils, brown rice adding one serving a week to our diet as we go along, while watching our weight. I will download the lists. Thank you and you have a new subscriber.

I have done the "Atkins", Low Carb and also Keto. At 70 years old, I feel like I will probably do better with low carb to get going again and then add in some exercise. I know low carb works but I left it a couple years ago and have eaten like a piglet since then! Now, I get to see if I can drop those original 20 pounds again and stay with it this time. I do feel so much better eating low carb. And I also can exercise better when I eat properly. Thank you for your knowledgeable videos! They will be helpful and very encouraging, too. Just started keto again been on it once before then went to low carb then Xmas happened 🙄. I never thought keto cld or should be long term however with more research and my own knowledge (nurse) I’ve realised the benefits of it especially being menopausal. It’s the only diet that has helped me loose weight due to menopause. I can understand why people feel overwhelmed when starting keto or low carb but with time comes knowledge. Really enjoyed this video

Excellent sample a low carb diet. I have followed a strict keto + intermittent fasting diet (18/6 and one 24 hour fast per week) and the results are astounding not only in terms of weight loss but also improved general health. After 5 months, I am starting to test the effects of moving towards a low carb diet as this includes a batter variety of foods containing important vitamins and minerals and I consider this preferable as a sustainable diet. Thanks for the high quality information and the clear and appealing manner in which you present it.❤

I follow a low carb diet and have lost 25 lbs. I would feel starved if my protein was that low. I try to maintain 1.4 grams per kg of my body weight with IF at a sixteen eight schedule and a two or three meal day plan. 4gm of protein is really low for a smoothies. I would use that recipe and add Scoop sugar free natural whey protein or whole fat Greek yogurt either would add 20 grams protein. Additional 4oz protein to the salad too. I am speaking only for myself and without mentioning the program I follow but she is a fully accredited nutritionist who really emphasized the importance of protein with low carb.

I don't know how people follow this "diet." I have tried to follow such an eating plan and I'm famished by the end of the day. I go to bed starving, can't sleep or wake up in the middle of the night. I normally avoid most white breads and sugary foods, but I still like a sandwich on whole wheat bread, or a baked potato once in a while, maybe even a cookie or a bowl of chili. Nope! Not going through that torture again. Btw, I'm a 68 y.o. female, 5'8" tall and weigh 160 pounds.

Thank you for the low carb ideas. It’s definitely been an ideal eating style for menopause. Does blending our fruits/vegetables compromise the fiber in a smoothie affecting insulin release?
@genxx27243 жыл бұрын
Yes, according to Dr. Robert Lustig. However, the smoothie here only had a small amount of low-glycemic fruit, and plenty of fat from the avocado to slow sugar absorption. Popular smoothies full of fruit are very harmful.
