The ooler is the new bed cooling system from the makers of the chilipad. The bedjet is super famous for their appearance on Shark Tank a few years ago. I have had the chilipad and bedjet V2 for about a year and a half. So I am really familiar with those and wanted to do a comparison with the new ooler. As you can see the ooler when on silent mode is the quietest of the three devices, followed by the bedjet/ooler on medium setting, then the chilipad, and then ooler on turbo setting. Would you sleep with ooler on turbo setting? Of course not, that's not what it is for that is to rapidly get the pad down to the temperature you want before you jump into bed. Then you turn it down to silent and you will hear a bit of a background/white noise. The bedjet is just slightly louder, so really you shouldn't have too much of a problem with it either.

Looking at getting the Ooler, we ordered the Chilipad, and it's SO loud.. this doesn't fully show you how loud it is, especially if you have two which you have to if you sleep with a partner, it's like being in between two generators all night Hopefully the Oooler will be quieter..

We find the Ooler sound level to be similar to a white noise machine - not generator level but definitely a bit of noise, which we personally find soothing and got used to very quickly :)

Hows the half pad stay in place on the Ooler and Chilipad? Is it a full size pad with just tubes on 1/2 or actually 1/2 of the bed. Id its 1/2 a pad hows it stay in place?

Thanks for the review. How did the Ooler perform with it's cooling? Also do you know anything about the new hydronics pad that was supposed to ship with the Ooler? All mentions of it seem to have been removed

It takes a bit to get it to temperature so i find that setting a bedtime in the app is the way to go. If your room is at like 80 and you want it at say 60 you want to use the turbo setting for sure. I feel like I saw a different pad at CES in 2018. But I'm pretty sure that the unit that I saw at CES this year is the one that they are shipping.

I'm looking forward to the scheduling settings. There are photos of that 'new' hydro pad still around on the net, it looks quite good. Doesn't seem to use pipes internally. Makes you wonder - if water is 25x as efficient at cooling as they claim, then why don't they have a pad that is filled with water, as well as channels running through it that bring cooled water in from the Ooler. That seems like a good way to displace and spread the heat away from your body.

Can you comment about the heat that generates from the machine/motor itself? I’ve heard there’s a lot of heat that comes off the machine, that can cause the room itself to heat up? Thank you. Awesome video

The chilipad and ooler are supposed to be off the ground and away from the bed, so you can feel some heat but it isn't directed at the bed. The bedjet unit doesn't get too hot so I haven't noticed that as an issue.

The ooler is a bit more comfortable than the cp. So it goes mattress, mattress protector, fitted bottom sheet (if you dont have a mattress protector) then ooler or CP then you, then a sheet and comforter (if you want one)

Good review! Question: Is the Ooler noticeably better at cooling than the Chilpad if the ambient temperature is in the 80s? I am trying to determine if it is worth the extra $$ (and wait time - the hot season will be pretty much over before you can get an Ooler, so no chance to put it to the test and see how well it works in hot weather within the return window).

Lars Oberg chilipad wont get under 72 degrees at 89 degrees with 75% relative humidity. Haven’t really gotten it under 68 even when it’s 72 degrees

The bedjets are fans so no for them. The chilipad and ooler will make things better, but none of these are true replacements for an ac.

Hi there, awesome review! I have the ChiliPad but find that it isn't very powerful in terms of cooling - it's unable to maintain a cold temperature when my body is on it. How do you find the Ooler vs the Chilipad in terms of cooling power ❄️? Is it worth the money to get the upgrade?

The ooler gets to the temp you want much faster when the turbo button is on. The pad that you sleep on is an upgrade, the sound and settings are an upgrade, but otherwise it's pretty close. Kind of like the bedjet v2 to bedjet v3, new technology is always a bit better.

James Patton got the chilipad. Throw sheet on top. I think the ooler is better cause the chilipad only had a few lines of 1/8 tubing that’s cold vs a near water bed topper...
