So refreshing to hear a honest Trini declare ‘dumpling is not for soup’. I agree…no boil flour! So I did try the recipe and it got rave reviews! What I think worked were 1) browning/sealing/searing the beef 2) your insistence on 2 onions for full aromatics including clove in the seasoning of the beef and a full 12 cups of water. (I have never used clove as a seasoning before.) After pressure cooking for 40 minutes when I uncovered pot I was hesitant to add another full 6 cups of water as it did not evaporate a whole lot. I did anyway and it was a good thing as people still complained they did not get enough broth. Hey and the pumpkin instead of split peas made for a perfect consistency! Great recipe!

What I use as a thickener for my soups is some grated “bread kind”, i.e English/sweet potato or grated pumpkin or both. Ehhh depends on what I have or how I feel. As you know, a lil ah dis.. ah lil ah dat.

That's a great tip! Never thought about grated potato but it makes perfect sense. Will give that a try next time! Thanks for sharing!

Hi Badawi, another winner never use split peas always use pumpkin, was hoping you added roucou. Some crusty bread would complete this along with a glass of spirited liquid lol. Remain safe.

Is the 2 intended puns , the copious amount of thyme, the searing of the beef, the no dumplings , the soup brothiness and the pumpkin for me plus the fact that no green seasoning was used and it was 👌! The leftovers of this musbe real lash...save me some Dawi
@lygie20023 жыл бұрын
My brother I took a chance a day to stew beef with the seasoning in the pot (no marination). I said my mom would strangle me if she only knew! The beef tasted better this way😲. It really does absorb the taste better while cooking. I'm not going back to marinating.👍🏽
@eatahfood3 жыл бұрын
Yep! No need for pre seasoning. Haha some of our old cooking traditions have to be updated.
