Years ago, around 1978/79 I was downtown Toronto at a do it yourselfish spray paint booth helping a friend tape and paper off a car for paint, when we burst out in uncontrollable laughter at the horror show in the booth beside the one we were in. Some bumbo clat had a sweet 66 Chevy Impala wagon painted lime green with the heaviest flake I've ever seen!! We both lost it at the redonculous looking pain! That wasn't funny enough, dude told some other guy there his nickname was "Diesel!! LOL! We couldn't even pretend to be laughing at something else, and "Diesel" didn't much like it! LOL! OK, so fast forward about ten years later when I'm driving the last stretch of dirt gravel road leading to my cottage. There's a fork in the road and straight ahead is an old farmhouse we loved when we were kids because once we saw that we knew we were almost there! So I stopped at the stop sign there at the fork and for nostalgia sake I took a look at that old farmhouse and to my stund amazement, there in the drive of the old farm, was that lime green heavy do/me flake paint job 66 Impala wagon!! LOL!! What's the friggun odds Tod??! Kind of sad though because it was sunk into the ground and looked an ornament to the lovely weed bed surrounding it! I'm actually tempted to ask if I can have it! Who doesn't want a 1966 Chevy Impala wagon?? Anyway, cool job Rob!! Gets my nod Todd! OK I'll stop now...sigh Jack - Canada ~'()'~

A fine job at customizing. Worth a 1960's Beach Boy Song. " I took my cruiser down to the track, hitched to the back of Jimmies Cadillac" (Apologies to :"Shut Down" I can almost see that low ratio posi-traction rear under the tubs. Well done. I just checked TR's car and here are the comments I left there. When ever I was asked to judge any kind of competition I always took into consideration the TLC that went into a job. DCR's car was a true modified custom, cutting out the hood, adding an engine removing the rear seat and dogs etc. I still think you fellows that do challenges should stick to the same car for each of you. TR's car was not as modified as DCR's but the end result & TLC was still worth a "like". Thanks

One Saturday, when I was 15, my father and I took our Vista Cruiser down an old Wisconsin country road, for a driving lesson. Being me, I was gabbing while I was driving and took the car up to 90mph. My father, being my father, couldn't calmly suggest I slow down. In an excited voice (that I can still hear 50 years later), he said "You're doing 90! Slow down! Stop! Dutifully, I stood on the brake pedal. To this day, I can still hear the squeal of the tires and smell the purple smoke. My father remembers the people coming out of their houses to see what was happening. Good memories!

Ok with open mind i watched his video, i call it as i see it and .. You again won this competition. he just changed wheels , and repainted the car. now i understand thats what is mostly done.. But in this one you took a family car and transformed it into a muscle car not only by changing wheels, but by altering the car as well as adding a blown engine, as well as customizing like the head lights and tail lights. so all in all hands down you Won!!! not say he doesnt do good work, he does very nice work. you just brought more to the table. Congrats!!!!!!!!!!

A perfect Pro-Street makeover!! What really puts this at the top is the tastefully realistic mods. The engine was perfectly scaled and mounted and the wheel tubs were accurate to the style. Topped with the wild paint color and it’s a winner!! Well done as usual.

Nice! Love the color change paint. In the beginning I kept asking you (even though I knew you couldn't hear me lol) why you didn't just lob a little bit off the bottom of the engine and epoxy it to the hood instead of cutting the hood and risk having the hole not straight or too big. Nevermind... This way it looks like it's supposed to be there. Nice detail work on the trim pieces and lights and such. Speaking of lights... To answer your question near the end of the video, the inner headlights are the hi-beams. On older vehicles, when you hit that switch on the floor with your left foot, all four headlights came on, and when you kicked it back down to lo-beam, the inners turned off leaving just the outers lit. If I remember correctly, the low beam bulb had two filaments, one low beam and a brighter one for when the hi-beams were on. I'm not sure when or even why, probably in the mid 90s or so, but if your vehicle had four headlights and you switched the hi-beams on, the outers would turn off and the inners would turn on. It's kinda too bad that there wasn't some way to lose that huge body post in the cargo area. I think that's what the dogs were for... to hide it lol. Do you have a way to fashion something that would pass for a window in the tailgate, and then blackout the tailgate window and the side windows in the cargo area only (similar to what auto manufacturers do with modern SUVs), or did you keep everything clear to show the tubbed out rear? Anyway, I love the idea with this car, and the color change paint just drives home the fact that this isn't Grandma's Olds anymore (just in case the blown big block left any doubt lol). Edit to ask: Did you have to cut into the chassis to fit the rear axle or was there already enough clearance?

I was excited as soon as I saw the thumbnail for the video. I love wagons. An old co-worker of mine in the 90s had an early 70s Dodge wagon that had steel wheels w/dog dishes and fatties on the back. That thing looked so mean! This came out awesome buddy, putting the tub in the back is priceless! Great wheels and tires as well. Though that paint color is a bit odd, it all works for a heck of a build. Nice one. Blub on!
